By MukOnce again the AP Poll has been shaken up this weekend, as we saw #2 FSU fall, and #10 Louiville soar, so where did that leave each team?
Alabama remains #1, not having budged since the season begun, and they are followed up by Ohio State at #2, after the Buckeyes had a huge win over OU, jumping from the third spot to the second in the poll. Making their way all the way up to #3, the Louisville Cardinals. The Cards jumped from #10 to #3 after embarrassing the Florida State Seminoles. The #4, 5, 6, and 7 spots all remain the same, with Michigan, Clemson, Houston, Stanford all staying in those respective spots. We round out the top 10 with Michigan St moving from #12 to #8, the spot they took from the now #9 Washington Huskies, and finally Texas A&M moves all the way from 17 to #10, finally finding some success in the quarterback position. Nebraska, Utah, and San Diego St all made their way into the top 25 after not being ranked the week before, and moving quickly. As we all know in college football, nothing is guaranteed, but these teams are all doing their very best to put themselves in a great position to win, but it seems that the way the Crimson Tide are playing, all roads lead to Tuscaloosa. While Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals continue to turn heads and climb the ranks, they've got an important game against Marshall this weekend, followed by the biggest matchup on their schedule for the year, the Clemson Tigers.

By UppyI'll say this just like I said it before: Sam Bradford is a good quarterback. If you look at the second half of last year, Bradford was playing at an elite (?) level, plagued by drops from his receivers (@JordanMatthews) and a constantly tired defense thanks to Chip- the Bane of the franchise- Kelly. If his receivers were semi-competent, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. When Bradford was traded to the Vikings, I had a mental breakdown, unsure of what I was going to get from Carson Wentz.
WELL, now that Wentz added on to the misery of the Factory of Sadness, the Cleveland Browns.. GO FUCK YOURSELF BRADFORD!! GOOD RIDDANCE boiiiii. That's a two-sided front. On one hand I'm thrilled to have a QB that appears to have franchise potential (please God don't ruin this for me). Being able to already watch the guy we mortgaged the future for is exciting, and means I don't have to sport first round pick blue balls with him on the inactive list all year. However, I don't actually wish bad luck for Sammy Sleeves. He didn't leave Philly, he was traded, which is a HUGE difference. Oh so we're supposed to hate Sam and wish bad things for him? He didn't do anything bad to Philly. He gave us all he had and preformed to the best of his ability for this team. I honestly wish Bradford nothing but the best, with the exception of a Super Bowl victory. I hope he can parlay a good season with the Vikings into a starting job somewhere in the AFC East where he can't get past Brady and actually hurt the Eagles. But while I low key cheer for number 8, I will continue to high key ridicule his poor plays with exclamations of "Thank God we got rid of this bum". I get to play both sides because I'm a blogger and I change my opinion whenever I want. Welcome to 2016. PS. If Wentz doesn't show up tonight this blog, along with my television, will get thrown out the window. Go Birds By BobThere truly is nothing worse in sports then when a player gets injured so early on in the season. After fans and teams build up hype about how it will be a players breakout year or how they were the steal of the off-season, they end up coming out hot out of the gates and end up out for the year with an injury nobody wishes on their worst enemy, let alone their favorite team. Thus far this season, there has been more injuries then any common football fan would like to see. I am not saying this is not expected; besides for hockey, football is hands down the most physical sport in the states. It is a little peculiar that the names going down so far are former pro bowlers who still have lots of years left in their tank. Whether they are out for only a few weeks, or the entire year it still impacts how a team will perform when a difference maker is missing a game.
Just yesterday, three great players in San Diego's Danny Woodhead, Denver's Demarcus Ware and Minnesota's Adrian Peterson each left their game not even knowing when they would be able to play football again. The most known of the bunch, Peterson, probably has the best case scenario. He tore his meniscus but the severity of the injury is not as bad as first expected, which means he Coach Mike Zimmer will only have to keep him out a couple of weeks. After the way Sam Bradford and the defense showed up last night, I would not be too nervous as a Vikings fan. Ware fractured his forearm during the second half of yesterdays thrashing of the Colts. The veteran linebacker is in need of surgery to mend his arm, but he should be able to head back to the field around week four or five. Last, we have a less known player who has stepped up his game the past couple of seasons. Ever since joining the Chargers a few years back, Danny Woodhead has been a go-to receiving back who has filled the void of the legend LT left in San Diego. Although yesterday, Woodhead got one of the worst injuries possible and tore his ACL. Whenever i hear a player has gotten this injury, I automatically cringe because it always looks so painful. I also feel bad because Woodhead has made such strides as a player within recent years, and this is going to be so difficult to come back from. At least for the Chargers sake, they have a potential franchise running back in Melvin Gordon, the only question is his catching ability out of the back field. Hearing that all of these well known players got injuries as well as others who I did not mention (sorry RGIII but just retire) makes it a tough day as a football fan. You hate to see it, but it just comes with the sport and there is no changing that. I wish all these guys a speedy recovery, hopefully their teams can make due without their presence on the field. By DjackAfter an incredible performance this week from Eli Manning, in which he threw for 368 yards while completing 78% of his passes, he also passed Drew Bledsoe for tenth all time in passing yards. Eli yet another impressive feat to an already impressive career. Eli Manning has had some bad fucking luck man, that is what hurt's his reputation because everyone killed him the years he threw over 20 interceptions even though half those were deflected of his receivers hands that couldn't catch the ball. He's had some bad receivers too and made them all have career years with him, Hakeem Nicks, Amani Toomer, Rueben Randle, Mario Manningham, and Steve Smith(Not the good one) all had the best years of their career with Eli Manning throwing them the ball. After they left Manning, they all had very short tenures with their future teams due to their lack of talent, so respect Manning for the great quarterback he is, can't rely on the stats to tell you the whole truth with him. No one throws a deep ball like Eli, I think that's my favorite part about his game, he's always been able to throw the ball deep down the field with elite accuracy since his early days. Has he had his Eli moments where u just shake your head and have no idea what he was thinking, YES, but has he won two Superbowl MVP's being the only guy to beat the best quarterback in the NFL in the big game, YES. With every quarterback you're always going to have your up and downs, but very few quarterbacks will bring your city one championship let alone two, and counting. I love Eli, easily my favorite player of all time, so I understand if you think I'm being biased, so now I'm going to just spit a bunch of statistical facts that make up his Hall of Fame resume, and if at the end you still don't think he is HOF worthy, I feel bad for your future or current children.
By UppySomehow, without Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady, the Patriots are 2-0. Now they will have to win week three without Gronk, TB12, and most likely Jimmy Garoppolo, as he suffered a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder in Sunday's contest against the Dolphins. The Patriots were able to hold off the Dolphins with their third string QB Jacoby Brissett, but the confidence in him to win week three against Houston, with Nuk Hopkins and Will Fuller running amuck on the secondary, is rather low.
So what does Jacoby need to help him win? Rob Gronkowski. Shit, I could throw for at least 150 and 3 TDs if I was throwing to Gronk. 6'6" 250 lbs? Just throw it near him and he'll catch it. Which brings me to point two. I drafted Gronk 10th overall in fantasy football. This MF, needs to get back on the field. I'm tired of throwing Martellus Bennett out there because the best tight end in football is hurt. I'm good at fantasy football (*at least my mom thinks so) and I win championships. But apparently I'm stupid and didn't have the slightest club that Gronk was still hurt. So I suck I guess. But Gronk needs to get his ass back and put up 30 points so I can breathe easy and my pillows aren't so wet from tears. Help us Rob Gronkowski, you're my only hope. (But help me more than the Pats. I couldn't care less if they win games or not.) By DjackThe Green Bay Packers faced off against the Minnesota Vikings last night in the battle of the North. This rivalry is becoming one of the better matchups in football, will it reach it's Farve vs Moss and Culpepper glory days, it seems like it actually might. The Vikings defense was playing no games last night this was strictly business, they made Aaron Rodgers look like an average QB and that is nearly impossible to do. The pass rush led by Everson Griffin is elite, and the linebacking core led by Hendricks and Barr might just be the most athletic in the league, safe to say their front seven is top 5 in the league. That was never the concern for the Vikings though, we all knew the defense was great there was never any question marks surrounding that element of their game. The question marks were on the offensive side of the ball, can this team score enough points to win games with Sam Bradford as their offensive general. AP was everyone's answer to this question, well they still have the best running back in the league right, wrong he had 40 yards on 30 carries this season before leaving last nights game with an injury. All hope looked lost for this Vikings offense, but somehow someway Sam Bradford and Stefon Diggs were able to tear apart the Packers defense just them two alone. Diggs caught 9 passes for a buck 80 and 2TDs. It was enough to get the job done, will it carry over to next week, and the week after that, who knows, but it was enough to win a huge division game at home. The Packers on the other hand, should've done more to win this game. They have Aaron Rodgers the best quarterback in the league, they should not be losing games to Sam Bradford, I don't care how good the Minnesota defense is. Rodgers has to be better. Trae Waynes picked off Aaron Rodgers to seal the win, this is the same guy that couldn't turn around his head around and find the ball all night. Rodgers floats one right into his bread basket and now he's the hero of the game. The Packers had to stop Stefon Diggs on defense that was it, no one else could do anything, and they let him get open every single play. The Packers defensive coordinator should be ashamed of himself after the atrocity that occurred last night.
Packers could've easily won this game, but they didn't, and the Vikings got a huge 17-14 win in their first game ever in their new stadium. Do the Vikings now own the North? By BobLast years league leading rusher Adrian Peterson has left the game tonight with a right leg injury. The Vikings star apparently cannot put weight on his leg which is not a good sign seeing how he is notorious with injuries. I am personally pretty tight about this because he is on my fantasy team which now leaves me with two of my top players out for a significant amount of time (thanks Kennan Allen). The Packers have gained momentum since he has gone down and have trimmed the league to 17-14. Sam Bradford might be having an above average game but he is a below average quarterback. The only great part about this Vikings team is their defense but with Aaron Rodgers is too clutch and they will not be able to carry the team all season. I hope for their sake that whatever Peterson's diagnosis is that it isn't serious and only lasts a few weeks.
By MukThe College Football season is three weeks in and the drama is in full-swing. We have had the top-25 shaken up like a tornado rolled through town, and have seen everything from mercy-rule blow outs to 1 point nail-biting finishes. After the first three games of the season, there are three players who have so far impressed me just a bit more than the rest of their peers, and those three athletes would be: Lamar Jackson, Christian McCaffrey, and J.T. Barrett. #3. J.T. Barrett came out firing for the Buckeyes this weekend as they picked up a huge win against OU and Baker Mayfield. Barrett threw 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, totaling 152 yards through the air and another 74 on the ground. J.T. now has 10 passing TD's, 3 rushing TD's, and one interception through three games, with over 800 all-purpose yards. Barrett is the clear leader of this Ohio State team, and is helping them dominate opponents and maintain inside the top 5. #2. Christian McCaffrey just cannot be stopped. Stanford's superstar racked up 260 all-purpose yards and two TD's in his team's 27-10 victory over USC. McCaffrey ran for 165 and a TD and caught 4 balls for 73 yards and another TD. Stanford has only played two games so far this season, but Christian looks to be in mid-season form already. In just two games, he has over 400 all-purpose yards, and 4 total touchdowns. Last night he exploded for a 56-yard TD bomb through the air, and will look to keep on rolling next weekend against UCLA. #1. Lamar Jackson is without a doubt the most electrifying player in college football right now. I know I wrote about Lamar last night, so I will keep this short and sweet; the kid can flat out play. His numbers through three games this season are staggering, and the way he does it all so effortlessly makes it so much fun to watch. He has 18 total touchdowns through three games, 8 in the air and 10 on the ground, racking up an absurd 1,300+ total yards. Louisville has the hottest offense in the country right now, and number 8 has everything to do with it. PS - Honorable Mentions: Jabrill Peppers, Michigan; Patrick Mahomes, Texas Tech; Leonard Fournette, LSU; Greg Ward JR., Houston
By BobI think Drew Brees might be one of the most under appreciated athletes of our generation. In a league where Tom Brady, Big Ben and the Manning bros have dominated the headlines for the past decade i feel like Drew Brees has quietly become an all-time great. Today in a scrappy fight with the New York Giants which ended in a loss, Brees once again topped a historic record. During the second quarter with a short pass to tight end Coby Fleener he passed a legend Dan Marino for third on all time passing yards list. That is a pretty amazing accomplishment seeing how Marino is considered one of the best of all time. It wouldn't be the craziest thing to see him climb the list even further and passing either Favre or Peyton but he is going to have to play at this level until at least 2018. He is only a little over 10,000 yards away from the number two spot (Favre) so realistically it is quite obtainable. I picture him finishing up his career in New Orleans and with Sean Payton coaching his team there is no doubt passing will be a part of the offense. He has been playing great so far this season, having thrown for 686 yard and 5 touchdowns. I have always been a fan of Drew and his super bowl is an all-time classic with a feel good story. He deserves a lot of respect for low key destroying these records season after season so shake off the L my man you still are a boss.
By DjackIn game the Giants should've won by 20 plus they didn't, now that shouldn't come as a surprise to any Giants fan. Going into every game as a Giants fan you have to accept the fact that we aren't going to rack up easy wins, we just don't do it don't ask me why because I don't know, but somehow we always play down to the level of the competition. The defense for the Giants couldn't have been better, I don't have any complaints on that side of the ball. We shutdown a Saints offense that we know is capable of putting up 30 plus on good defenses like they did last week against the Raiders. We shutdown the run just like we did last week, showing that our front 7 is a lot better than last year, and the secondary made Drew Brees life a lot more difficult today. So the 100 million dollar defense has stepped us big and has carried us through our offensive struggles. Our special teams also had the play of the game when Jonathon Hankins blocked a field goal and Janoris Jenkins returned it to the crib, our only touchdown of the game. The offense on the other hand was awful. Against a horrible Saints defense that has no secondary whatsoever we were incapable of finishing off any drive. Victor Cruz showed his signs of rust today, he dropped a few balls, and had a crucial fumble deep in Saints territory. He made up for it on the final drive of the game when he went up and made a sick grab that he wrestled away from the defender to put us in position for a game winning field goal. Too many turnovers by the Giants today, you have to protect the ball while running three fumbles is unacceptable, almost cost a game that should've been over in the first quarter, just goes to show how important ball security is in this league. The defense has made a complete 180 from last season and is the reason we won this game, something I was never able to say last season. The Giants win a close one 16-13, in a completely opposite game from last year's Saint-Giants shootout. 2-0 is a hell of a feeling.
