By BobI think Drew Brees might be one of the most under appreciated athletes of our generation. In a league where Tom Brady, Big Ben and the Manning bros have dominated the headlines for the past decade i feel like Drew Brees has quietly become an all-time great. Today in a scrappy fight with the New York Giants which ended in a loss, Brees once again topped a historic record. During the second quarter with a short pass to tight end Coby Fleener he passed a legend Dan Marino for third on all time passing yards list. That is a pretty amazing accomplishment seeing how Marino is considered one of the best of all time. It wouldn't be the craziest thing to see him climb the list even further and passing either Favre or Peyton but he is going to have to play at this level until at least 2018. He is only a little over 10,000 yards away from the number two spot (Favre) so realistically it is quite obtainable. I picture him finishing up his career in New Orleans and with Sean Payton coaching his team there is no doubt passing will be a part of the offense. He has been playing great so far this season, having thrown for 686 yard and 5 touchdowns. I have always been a fan of Drew and his super bowl is an all-time classic with a feel good story. He deserves a lot of respect for low key destroying these records season after season so shake off the L my man you still are a boss.
