By DjackI knew I shouldn't have doubted the Patriots, never doubt the Patriots, that's rule #1, and I broke it. So, I was little too high on the Texans coming into this game, I let their 2-0 record get to my head a little bit, boy did that blowup in my face. Any good thing I have ever said about Osweiler I want to take back because for a 6'7" QB, he has a noodle arm. His ball has no zip on it whatsoever my god, my little sister throws a football with more velocity. With that being said the Patriots defense is also just simply amazing, this is the best defense I've seen the Patriots have since the early 2000's. They shutout the Texans offense, the Texans didn't cross the 50 yard line on offense till the last minute of the third quarter, the Patriots defense straight up bullied them. Oh yeah, the defense was also missing two of their better players in Donta Hightower and Rob Ninkovich. LeGarrette Blount had a killer game carrying this offense on his back, he rushed for 105 yards on 24 carries, and had 2 touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett was the big story of the night, a third string rookie quarterback on a short week, things were not looking good for the Pats coming into tonight, but he was able to manage the game well, make a few plays, and most importantly didn't turn the ball over. Now, some people are saying he played great, okay calm down, he did well stepping into this situation, but this kid isn't anything special. The Patriots dominated every single facet of tonight's game, no other way to really summarize it. They simply dominated the Houston Texans in every way possible, Bill Belichick put together a masterful game plan, and the Patriots executed it to perfection. What else is new. The teacher(Belichick) showed the world tonight that the student(Bill O'Brien) can never dethrone the master. The evil empire continues to show no mercy on the league, imagine how deadly the Patriots are going to be once Tom Brady comes back. Scary.

By DjackNo Brady, no Gronk, no Dion Lewis, no Ninkovinch, and now no Garoppolo, the Patriots on paper look quite depleted, mainly on the offensive side of the ball, but will this eradicate there chances of winning tonight. It shouldn't, that's how well coached, and well run this organization is. It's mind blowing how a team could be on their third string quarterback and still be favored to win a game against a team that has looked very good themselves coming into tonight's game. Something tells me not to say this but I'm going to anyways, the Patriots will lose this game tonight against the Texans, I know I'm going to hate myself later for saying that, but I'm going to stick with my gut. Gronk may or may not play tonight, that's a pretty big factor because he will make things a lot easier for Jacoby Brissett. I actually think Brissett will play quite well, he won't take the Patriots on many long scoring drives like Garoppolo was able to do, but he'll be able to manage the game quite well with Bill Belichick walking him through it play by play. The Texans defense is scary good, they'll be able to cheat a little and take away the run game since Garoppolo isn't their to keep them honest. The Patriots defense will have to play up to a new standard tonight if they want to win this game, the Texans offense will not make that easy for them with the amount of weapons they now possess. Osweiler hasn't looked flawless that's for sure, but I hope no one expected him to be, he's a young QB that has a lot to learn with some nice raw talent to build off. I don't expect this to be a high scoring affair, a lot of defense, a lot of punts, and some good ole smash mouth football from both sides. The Texans haven't had much fortune against the Patriots in the past, beating them once in their entire existence as a franchise. I look for the Texans to pick up their second win against the Patriots tonight, and their third win of the season as they continue to show the league that they're a young team on the rise. The Texans win a close one 26-21 as Will Fuller continues to prove he can be the jelly to DeAndre Hopkins peanut butter with another 100 yard performance. Please Texans, I beg of you, don't make me regret having faith in your squad.
By DjackJosh Norman was heavily criticized after two straight weeks of not covering the other teams best receiver because his coaches only wanted him on one side of the field. After two weeks of watching Bashaud Breeland, the Redskins #2 corner, get cooked time and time again by Antonio Brown and Dez Bryant, they've finally decided to have Josh Norman follow Odell all around the field on Sunday. Every sports fan in the world should be thanking the football gods right now, we get to see the rematch from the heavyweight bout these two players had last year during week 15. As a Giants fan, I'm even more happy about this decision by the Redskins, now everyone will get to see Odell Beckham Jr. make Josh Norman look like a total nobody. Not to take shots at Norman's ability, but Odell would've and should've had about 150 yds and 2 TD's last year on him if his head was actually in the game. This time around I expect OBJ to be locked in from the first to last snap of the game, he's going to play with a chip on his shoulder, and he's going to make Norman look like an overrated system corner that isn't as good outside the Panthers defense. So basically Odell is going to expose Norman for what he is, an average corner that looked special in system that fit his style perfectly. Doesn't mean Norman can't have a good solid career, just means he ain't no Revis, Sherman, or Peterson, that's for sure. Odell is an out of this world talent, he hasn't performed to the best of his ability whatsoever to start the year, this is just another reason I look for him to come out and have a monster game. I can't wait till Sunday to see what unfolds, it's such a treat that Norman came to the NFC East so we could see this matchup twice a year. Strap up your chinstraps boys, it's going to be a real physical matchup come Sunday.
By DjackThe bad news Browns continue to get more bad news, just after it was reported that Josh Gordon had a warrant out for his arrest, Corey Coleman has been ruled out for the next several weeks with a broken hand. The only bright spot of this miserable Browns season has been the young receiver. Now, the Browns have nothing, they didn't have much to begin with, but with injuries to RGIII, Josh McCown, Cameron Erving, and now Corey Coleman this season is officially dead. Usually the Browns season isn't ruled dead until about week 4 or 5, but this year were going to rule it dead now due to losing every talented offensive player they have. The Browns will be lucky to not go 0-16 this season, I'll actually be stunned if they win a game with Cody Kessler at QB, this kid wasn't even good in college, what makes anyone think he will be able to become a good starter in the NFL. Even on the rarest of occasions when nobody QB's become something, it's not with the Cleveland Browns. I honestly feel bad for Hue Jackson, he already had the cards stacked against him with having the Browns as his team to begin with, but now with all these injuries to his few decent players, there is no hope for him succeeding at this job. He should've been smarter than to take the job to begin with, but I guess someone needs to sack up and take the paycheck right. The most interesting part about this Browns season will be seeing if Hue Jackson gets to keep his job when the Browns go 0-16.
By BobI think I am speaking for most NFL fans here when I say this: fuck Josh Gordon. This guy has the talent to be one of the top tier receivers in the league but he continuously just makes dumb mistakes and never learns his lesson. Surprisingly this time around the trouble has nothing to do with weed, but a baby mama. Adam Ferrise of Cleveland.com reported that Judge Alison Floyd of Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court issued the warrant Aug. 31 after Gordon did not respond to several subpoenas in a paternity case. It really is always something with this man. According to the Browns camp, Gordon's attorneys are handling the situation and that it should no impact on his return come week 5. I am going to go out on a limb and call bullshit on that one. At this point I think Gordon likes being in the tabloids for the wrong reasons. I guess he was keeping busy during his suspensions, and all of this nonsense might just lead to another one. Gordon has not played a snap of football since 2014 and is halfway through his suspension for this season. The Browns need all the help they can get with rookie quarterback Cody Kessler (who??) starting. If Gordon is somehow gets in trouble with the league from this warrant, I would not be remotely surprised if the Browns lost every game this season. The only team close to the level of garbage they are at is the Chicago Bears, and at least they have some decent play makers. For Josh's' sake I hope this situation ends quickly and it ends up being some crazy woman trying to get some money out of the troubled star.
By BobIt has been a rough couple weeks for Minnesota. Although they may be 2-0 thanks to some stellar play by their crazy defense, they will now be without their best player for up to four months. What first seemed to only be a slight meniscus injury that would keep him out a few months has turned into meniscus surgery. Well, that went 0-100 real quick alright. It was bad enough the their Bridgewater tore his ACL during the preseason and had to get Sam Bradford from Philly but this is a much bigger blow. Bradford (as he showed Sunday night) has the ability to actually be a decent quarterback in the NFL after throwing for 286 yards, two touchdowns and having 121.2 QBR. The backup for AP though, the speedster Jerick Mckinnon will be decent but no where close to the level his mentor is. Adrian might have had a slow start to the season but he was bound to glow up eventually. The Vikings offense line is already sus as it is, and now with a running back he has not really proved much of anything it will be much more difficult to run the ball. I feel bad for this team, what looked like a sleeper Super Bowl team months ago has been absolutely killed by the injury bug. Good think they have a stud in Stefon Diggs at receiver and one of the best defenses in the league. It will be a tough test staying a top the NFC North, but if every player does their part I think they can stay in the race until their leader comes back. Who knows, maybe Mckinnon can completely wow the NFL and make the Vikings completely forget about their old friend Mr. Peterson.

By DjackThe muscle hamster, aka Doug Martin, left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. It is now being reported that he will miss the next three games with this lingering hamstring issue. This is one of those injuries that is very tricky, you don't want to bring the guy back too soon and have him reinjure himself, causing him to miss even more time than he will already have to. The Bucs are goin to struggle in the run game without their bruiser to take some of the pressure off Jameis Winston. More importantly, this is a huge blow to my fantasy team, that's the worst part of this situation, I drafted Martin pretty high because he did so well for me last year. This year's been a different story, he's gotten me a total of 9 points in the past two weeks, I guess I won't be missing his production too much. All in all, Doug Martin needs to get back ASAP for the Bucs sake, and for the sake of my fantasy team.
By DjackThe Jay Cutler saga continued in Chicago last night, at this point you have to be thinking when is this guy going to be done for good, he gets second chance after second chance. Jay Cutler can make all the throws on the field, he has a missile launcher for an arm, but yet he just doesn't have what it takes upstairs to be a winning quarterback in this league. That showed again last night, the Bears took on an Eagles team that they should've feasted on, instead it was the other way around. Wentz looked like the veteran quarterback in this match up, he stood in the pocket and took some shots, but he would be making good throws as he was getting drilled, you have to respect that. Once again, pretty tough to tell if Wentz is really that good or if the Browns and Bears are really just that bad. Regardless, Wentz is doing better than anyone could've expected and I'm sure every Philly fan thinks he's the next Joe Montana. Cutler looked like the whiny cry baby that he usually is, horrible body language as usual, and after the first quarter it looked like his interest in the game had vanished. He went through the motions for most of second quarter, not doing anything to help his team, but not doing anything catastrophic to hurt them either. Well, that all changed quickly in the third quarter, on the first drive of the second half Cutler was sacked , he fumbled, and Philadelphia recovered. This was his 86th career fumble the most in the league since he has started playing. He'll bounce back though right, wrong, two drives later he threw a pass directly to the other team, just one of those moments where it was like, who is he even throwing it to. Then, in classic Cutler fashion, out of nowhere he sustains an "injury", he leaves the field, his teammates, and the fans behind, as he just quits on the field right then and there on National TV. Say what you want, he quit on his team, you can buy into what he said in the postgame press conference about his injured thumb, believe whatever you want, just know this isn't the first time Cutler has played absolutely atrocious and than got "hurt". This whole ordeal with him last night kind of reminded me of a moment in history, remember when Richard Nixon resigned as President, waved to the crowd, and flew off into the distance to basically never be seen again while the people of America were like what the fuck just happened, well if you don't I'll remind you with a video. But, Jay Cutler literally did same thing last night, resigned as bears QB, lied to fans at the press conference, and now he will slowly fade off into the distance like Nixon. Good PR move Jay. By UppyThe first half was just ew, but hey a wins a win. The Eagles really turned it on in the second half with Wentz throwing dime after dime, but it would be nice to see the receivers, you know, catch the ball. I mean that is their job right? Like they had to be really good at catching footballs in college in order to get to this point in their career, so what is so hard about doing the one thing you're paid millions of dollars to do. And yes, I'm talking to you, Jordan Matthews, you stone-handed fuck.
It was nice to beat up on the Bears because it's funny when Ditka gets sad. The defense looked great as always @BrandonGraham. It's nice to see a defense run by a real defensive coordinator. Haven't had that since Jim Johnson (RIP). Ryan Matthews popped in touchdowns including a sweet scamper to the corner after getting bounced around at the goal line. It's late. I'm going to bed happy. And we're on to fight a Le'veon Bell-less Steelers group that saw some miscommunication between Big Ben and AB84 last week. Fletcher Cox will be in for a huge day disrupting the pass. Birds 2-0. Wentz 2-0. Doug Pederson: capable. |
