By DjackAfter Sunday's win against the Arizona Cardinals, Cam Newton, who took a cheap shot below the knee in the game, made comments about poor officiating not protecting him. Newton had every right to complain about the clear illegal hit placed on him by Calais Campbell in that game, but his choice of words, and his demeanor saying those words made Cam come off as a baby back bitch. Now, I usually don't like to take shots at football players for not being tough because I'd never have the balls to do what they do, but when you say things like "At times I don't even feel safe" you're going to face some heat. What player is ever safe in the game of football, the whole sport revolves around contact, and inflicting pain on your opponent. If you're not willing to get hit a lot, you shouldn't be playing, it's that simple. Nat Berhe, a safety for the New York Giants, will make his return to the field this week after missing the last 5 weeks with a brutal concussion. Was Berhe complaining about the violent nature of the NFL, no, he embraced it, saying things like "Nobody wants to live forever" and " I'm just out here man... It's fun to watch. If you're fun to watch, who knows, maybe they'll throw the bank at you one day." Berhe understands that it's football, you're going to get banged up, that's just how the game works, if you don't love it then why are you playing. Cam acts like he's the only mobile QB that gets hit, Big Ben, Brady, Rodgers, and Wilson are all hit with the same frequency, and have actually been hit more times illegally, but you never hear a peep from those guys about the way the officials call the game. At the end of the day, Cam is just a big baby that can't grasp the fact that he's not this untouchable super being that can't always get the ball to roll his way. Sorry Cam, the NFL has missed calls of illegal hits on every player, but has every player made even close to the amount you're making, no. Just shut up, collect your checks, and get out after 10-12 years if you're that scared of being hit. It's really that simple, either shut up and live with it, or get out of the league. By the way, every defense that plays Camfrom here on out will be going after him even harder now, it's the jungle out their, as soon as the enemy senses fear in their opponent, they strike. Cam says he's playing with fear, so look for those defenders to be extra hungry on these upcoming Sundays.

By DjackComing into this season the Jaguars were on many peoples radars as the sleeper team that could make some noise this year. After playing 7 games this season it's safe to say they aren't what we expected them to be, when teams don't live up to their hype people start looking for a scapegoat, and unfortunately for Blake Bortles the scapegoat has been him. Bortles had expectations to take the next step this year, after a statistically good sophomore season, Bortles was supposed to elevate the Jaguars to a playoff bound team, and he's coming up far too short for even the laid back Jacksonville fans to handle. Bortles is 24 years old and the Jaguars could potentially be calling it quits on him, or at least that's what sports personality after sports personality is recommending they do. What do I have to say to that, well it'd probably be the biggest mistake this Jacksonville franchise could make. The quarterback position is without doubt the hardest position in the NFL to get a good talent at just ask the Browns, that's why most teams with good franchise quarterbacks enjoy success year after year without having consecutive losing season's for more than a 3 year period. Bortles put up huge numbers for a sophomore quarterback throwing for 4400 yards, 35 touchdowns, 58% completion, and 18 interceptions, very promising numbers for a NFL quarterback at the age of 23. This year there's only been 7 games played by the Jags, but Bortles is on pace to put up 4400 yards, 28 touchdowns, 60% completion, and 19 interceptions, clearly a small drop off int the TD/Int ratio, but nothing drastic to make you think this kid has lost his ability to ball out. I do however think Bortles has hit his ceiling, not necessarily his career potential ceiling, but he has reached his ceiling within this system, which should never happen to a quarterback of that age. There in lies the problem, the Jaguars coaching staff, they have Gus Bradley as their head coach, he has won 14 games in 3 1/2 years for the Jaguars, the fact he still has a job is mind blowing enough. Gus Bradley is a former defensive coordinator for the Seahawks, that's basically why he got the job, the Seahawks defense was so amazing it had to be the coordinator right. Wrong, Seattle's defense has stayed at the same elite level, meanwhile the Jaguars defense has gotten worse ever single season that Bradley has been head coach, I'm sure there's no correlation though(that's sarcasm for those of you who won't understand without me clearly stating it). Bortles is now on his 3rd offensive coordinator in just as many seasons, ask the 49ers how that worked out in the development of Alex Smith. Jaguars need to fire Bradley because obviously that signing was a major fail, they literally just replaced the offensive coordinator, so if this one doesn't pan out over the course of the rest of the regular season just start over from scratch, and with the right coaches in place watch Bortles blossom into the awesome quarterback he can be. There is no doubt that he can make all the throws a quarterback at this level has to make, the real question is can the Jaguars get him the right support behind the scenes to elevate him, after all isn't the coaches job to elevate the opportunity of the player to succeed by putting them in good positions to execute. Anyone ready to give up on Blake Bortles is a fool, give the kid time, why are you in a rush to get a new quarterback Jacksonville fans, look at the Jets they rush into a quarterback change every season, and look where that's gotten them. Be patient with Blake, get him an offensive minded head coach, and all this is Blake Bortles regressing talk will go by the way side.
By DjackI'm a big Ohio State Buckeye fan, always have been, always will be. If you asked me why, I couldn't give you the standard answer of I'm from Ohio, or that me or one of my siblings went their because none of that is true. I became a Buckeyes fan because the first college football game I can recall watching was the 2004 matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes, I had watched plenty of professional football up until this point so I knew football, but I had never watched the college game. That all changed that day in late November when a Jim Tressel coached Buckeyes team who was 6-4 at the time beat the Michigan Wolverines who were 9-1 at the time. Why did I choose to root for the Buckeyes, because my older brother was rooting for Michigan, so I said why not root against him like I do in almost every other sport, and that's the day a young Buckeye fan was born. Also that game was then true emergence of Ohio State legend Troy Smith but that's a story for a different day. That brings me to my point of why I'm currently at a very confused point in my Buckeye fandom, all my life as a Buckeye fan all I've know is fuck Michigan, they suck, and we hate everything about them. Unfortunately for me, one of my favorite coaches in the game of football ended up their as the head coach of their football team, Jimmy Football Harbaugh. I've seen this guy turn Stanford into a great collegiate powerhouse, he turned the 49ers into a Super Bowl contender, and now he has Michigan returning to elite status. Seeing Michigan underachieve year after year made the college football season easy for me because even if we weren't winning national titles at Ohio State, we were still beating Michigan. Now even that part of our season is in serious question with Michigan being one of the most dominant teams in college football this year. I still hate Michigan, always will, but I love Jim Harbaugh, and I'm not afraid to admit it. When I saw him at the Cubs World Series game I almost lost it, this is a grown ass man who brought a baseball glove to the game like he was a joyous young kid naively hoping to catch his favorite players home run ball. He knew the cameras would be on him at some point, someone of that status does not go unnoticed at any sporting event let alone one of the biggest games of the year, and he still said I don't give a flying fuck what the twitter trolls think I'm going to game with a glove to catch a god damn home run ball. What a fucking LEGEND. The best part is the next day he was asked about it, and to sum up his response he broke down the art of how to get home run balls at baseball games like he was a home run catching connoisseur, he's even the most calculated guy in the chasing down home run balls department. Better look out Zack Hample aka foul ball guy, looks like you might have some serious competition when Harbaugh decides to hang up the headset for a glove. Harbaugh is the type of guy I want to play football for, he's a complete lunatic on the sideline, but when he's off the field he looks like the fun drunk uncle that everyone wants to hangout with, it's the perfect concoction of coaching traits. Jim Harbaugh, I don't know how you do it you recruiting genius, but you've captured the heart of an Ohio State Buckeye fan, so I realize now why all the 5 star recruits are lining up to go to Michigan. I mean I hope we still crush you on November 26th and ruin your CFB playoff hopes kinda like we did back in 2006 during the game of the century, but as a human being I genuinely think Jim Harbaugh is the fucking man. As a college football player I'd much rather play for a guy like Harbaugh, which there really is no one quite like him, than a guy like Nick Saban who makes me feel like I'm in a morgue every time he speaks. Every week it seems like Jimmy Harbaugh is doing some foolish thing that ends up on the internet, it never ends poorly for him it's always perceived well by the public, and I'm just convinced this guy is the happiest man on the planet living out his life long dream. Everybody should be taking notes from Jimmy Harbaugh on to live life to the fullest.
By DjackThe four team's that'd be in the CFB playoffs if the season ended today: 1. Alabama Obvious clear cut #1 in the nation right here, this spot was not even up for debate, the committee just started with #2 because it was already consensus in the room that Alabama is the best team in the nation. I'll honestly be stunned if Bama doesn't win it all this year, this is the most dominant Bama team I've ever seen and they're finally getting great play from the quarterback position so this could potentially be the best Nick Saban Alabama team ever. 2.Clemson Deshaun Watson revenge tour is off to a perfect start and a Clemson Bama rematch looks more and more likely with every passing week. Clemson has shown they are a great football team on both sides of the ball. They have one of the best players in all of college football leading there team so I like there chances to make it to the big game. I'd say Clemson is basically a shoe in for the CFB playoff barring any major injuries. 3. Michigan Michigan continues to decimate every opponent put in front of them, the Wolverines have one thing standing in between them and the CFB playoff, the Ohio State Buckeyes. If the Wolverines win that game they'll get into the playoff, if not it'll be another season that ends in heartbreak, and there's nothing that would make me happier. 4. Texas A&M I was a little shocked to see Texas A&M in the playoff picture already, they've had one of the hardest schedules in all of college football, and their one loss is to the best team in college football so I guess it's reasonable. If the season ended today they'd be in, good thing it doesn't because I think A&M has frankly played over their heads and will not even end up in the top 10 of the polls by the time this season ends. Enjoy being in the playoff picture now Aggies because in a few short weeks all hopes will be demolished. The two teams on the outside looking in: 5. Washington Undefeated Washington continues to get no respect despite crushing whoever has stepped in their path. Classic CFB move to screw over Chris Petersen, they did it for years when he was at Boise state going undefeated and they wouldn't let him play in the big game, now they're doing it even though he's in a power 5 conference. Washington is a well coached team with a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way, I believe Washington will be in one of the top four spots by the end of the year, and Petersen will finally get his chance to reach the paramount of college football. 6. Ohio State
The Buckeyes have struggled in recent weeks against teams that they should not be struggling against, does this worry me as a Buckeye fan, a little bit, but I know we have plenty of talent, and that this is just a little rough patch we're going through. Only thing keeping us from a playoff spot is the Michigan Wolverines, if we win that game we're in, if we lose, it's another season that ends in disappointment for Urban Meyers, the Buckeyes, and me. By UppyNo this is not click bait, this is semi-serious. When asked on Twitter Sunday night if he could come out of retirement and help the Eagles, the 42 year old Terrell Owens answered "Available". All of the "experts" have shot it down already and I'm here to tell you those people are stupid. T.O was one of the greatest wide receivers of his time, literally carrying the Eagles to Super Bowl 39. Tom Brady is 39 and is going to win the MVP this year. T.O. is three years older but looks exactly like he did in his playing days. Look at this fucking dude! Give him the veteran minimum, strap some pads on this man, and tell him to go long. Let the guy play! Seriously what do the Eagles have to lose? DGB and Nelson Agholor have yet to figure out the incredible task of running really fast right past people, so maybe Owens can teach them a thing or two. This team needs a veteran wide out desperately and why not let a man with 2% body fat give it a shot.
P.S. I'm also all for offering LeBron James all the money in the universe to come play tight end. Just an idea. By UppyEagles wide receiver Josh Huff has been arrested for allegedly speeding on the Walt Whitman Bridge while in possession of marijuana and a handgun. While is it yet to be known whether or not he has a permit for the gun, there is some advice that our good friend Steven A. Smith would like to give young Josh: Weed. The killer of NFL wide receivers (RIP Josh Gordon). Overall, not a good look for Josh Huff here. Coming off a huge 98-yard kick return TD and the fans start to forget that you're worthless on offense, and you go and do something like this. I love the fact that they have to put "allegedly" as if somebody just made this story up. Live look at Huff's trial: This ordeal actually works perfect for the Eagles. There have been rumors of a potential trade that would bring Alshon Jefferey to Philly. Well what does the city of Chicago love more than guns?! Send em Josh for Alshon it's a no brainer! Carson Wentz gets his big man on the outside and the Eagles win out. Uppy for GM!
By DjackWhat happened last night on Monday night football is something no one saw coming, the 1-6 Bears who at many times this year have looked like the worst team in the NFL, beat the 5-1 Vikings soundly. What the Bears did to the Vikings is what everyone thought the Vikings were going to do to the Bears, dominate on the defensive side of the ball, and let a balanced offense lead long methodical drives down the field to continuously put points on the board. The final score was only 20-10, but the Vikings defense did a lot of bending not breaking to keep the Bears score lower than it should've been, the thing is the Vikings defense hasn't been bending at all this year before this game, so a performance like this against a team like the Bears should definitley get Vikings fans a little worried. Vikings defense allowed 400 yards for the first time this year, the two times they've allowed over 20 points which has been their last two games the Vikings have lost, and they allowed a rusher to have over 100 yards on them for the first time this season. Looks like this Vikings defense is very penetrable after all since they just got exposed by a very mediocre offense with limited weapons. The Vikings offenses woes continued this week, actually they got even worse, and if this continues the Vikings are going to blow their chances at winning the division. It all starts with how poor the offensive line is playing, they got absolutely no push in the running game last night, the fact that Matt Asiata was able to get 42 yards on the ground actually surprised me since he had no where to go all night. In pass protection the offensive line might've been worse, Bradford was sacked 5 times and was being chased down all night. If he continues to take this kind of beating he will not be under center much longer, we all know how fragile Bradford is from his St.Louis days. Vikings still had some oppurtunities to make plays despite their offensive line being annihilated by the Bears defensive front, early in the game Bradford had Stefon Diggs wide open deep down the field, and he over throws him on a ball I think Diggs should've caught since it hit his fingertips, but regardless of whose fault it was that play should've gone for a touchdown. It's misexecution like that can just kill your team's confidence in a game like this where you're already struggling enough in other areas. Jay Cutler played like a man playing for a future in the NFL last night, probably because he is, but he should always have that attitude from here on out because it seemed to work against a very good defense. I don't know how the Bears did it but they pulled off a huge upset, they also did the Packers a huge favor by keeping their division hopes within reasonable reach, and now the Vikings have a stretch of tough games coming up that could make or break their season.
