Bills DT Marcell Dareus will face a 4 game suspension for another violation of the leagues substance abuse policy. The Bills defense takes another huge hit, as they will now start the season without their big name tackle, their first 2 draft picks from this years draft, and on top of that, DE star Mario Williams flew south for the division rival Dolphins. Rex Ryan is known as a defensive mastermind, but with a defense that already took heat for underperforming last season, things keep getting worse for Buffalo. In a division that has been dominated by Tom Brady and the Patriots for over a decade, the other 3 teams are constantly fighting for a wildcard spot. The Jets seem to believe that spot is theirs for the taking this season, and with the Bills defense working frantically to bring in free agents to fill their injury and suspension holes, it seems likely. The Bills just recently made Tyrod Taylor their franchise QB with a large extension, but there is not much he can do to stop the bleeding on the defensive end. Rex Ryan has been reported to be in the hot seat already coming into this season, now with his patented smash mouth defense looking weaker and weaker each week, things don't look so good for the Ryan brothers. by BobWell what do you know, another suspect trade by the Eagles. This morning, the Tennessee Titans traded 2nd year receiver Dorial Green-Beckham in return for offensive lineman Dennis Kelly. Now don't get me wrong, DGB still has a lot of potential in this league, with a 6'5 frame and Megatron comparisons who knows what his ceiling could really be. Although he may have the talent, he unfortunately does not have the work ethic to make himself great. Titans camp reported he had shown up to camp overweight and had even been demoted to second team, I don't think that's ever happened to Calvin Johnson. In return for this question mark of a player, the Titans have earned a Versatile lineman who has already proved he can play multiple positions. At only 26, he is still young enough to make a big impact protecting a young gun in Marcus Mariota. The Titans are set to have an interesting year. With a surprinsgly strong defense last year and a questionable offense it will be fun to see how they play in the second year with Mariota. This trade can end up being crucial, with the biggest threats for receivers being tight end Delanie Walker and WR Rishard Matthews who played for Miami last season. As for the Eagles, wide reciever is their weakest position. That does not mean much when your on a garbage team such as the Eagles, but if Beckham can turn his work ethic around this could maybe be the first good thing to happen to Philadelphia since the Phillies won the World Series.
by DjackVia NY Daily News Two years removed from his original ACL injury in Philly, Victor Cruz is still sidelined in training camp due to a nagging groin injury. The days of watching Cruz dice up defensive backs to score touchdowns and do the salsa in celebration are unfortunately, long gone. I was a believer in Cruz for as long as possible, now this is just unbearable to watch anymore. The guy can't stay healthy, once one thing recovers another thing breaks down, just like my Volkswagen. Sterling Shepard can easily make up for what we are losing with Cruz. At this point in their careers, Shepard definitely has the edge in the speed and quickness aspect of their games. It's a young mans game now, Cruz does not have age on his side and if he can't find a way onto the field soon he's going to be out of a job. I'd love nothing more than watch the electric Cruz from back in the day come out opening night against Dallas and help us destroy those window lickers, as of right now though that looks real doubtful.
By MukThe NFL was shocked last year when a report was released, linking players to potential HGH usage, players ranging from Peyton Manning to Clay Matthews. We know that recently Peyton was cleared of all implications, saying there was no direct evidence he was linked to any HGH usage. Well yesterday the NFL announced that James Harrison, Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and former Packer LB Mike Neal, would all be suspended if they did not come in for questioning in the case. James Harrison said several weeks ago that he is open to talking to the NFL, but they must come to him, because he has nothing to hide and won't come to them for something he did not do. The players have until August 25th to comply with the leagues request for interviews, and their suspensions will begin on the 26th, and carry until they come in for questioning, and then after determining if they are guilty or innocent in the allegations. The NFLPA has announced they do not have a comment at this time, but I can imagine they are working with the players and the NFL, to achieve a peaceful solution.
Harrison declined to comment during camp, while Marthews called the allegations "bogus" as he is frustrated that he had to continue addressing the situation, but is optimistic the truth will come out, while Peppers called the allegations "nonsense". Earlier this summer NFLPA assistant executive director of external affairs, George Atallah said that the NFL needs to provide the players with more evidence before forcing them to come in for questioning, stating that the league ""They have proved to have a terrible track record when it comes to investigations," Atallah said of the NFL." Whether the allegations are false or true, I will imagine the players will comply simply to avoid suspension, even if the NFL is out of line. by DjackVia NJ.com It's finally time for Eli Manning, to put together the regular season all Giants fans know he can. We have all witnessed his postseason greatness, out dueling Tom Brady for 2 Super Bowl trophy's, but the regular season hasn't always gone so smoothly for him statistically speaking. The last 2 seasons with Ben McAdoo, Eli Manning has had the best two regular seasons of his career. I expect that to continue this season as the Giants reach new heights with an improved defense, more weapons offensively, and with Ben McAdoo at head coach. So, for all the haters that make fun of Eli's stupid face and say he's not an elite QB, this MVP trophy is just going to be another accolade for me to throw in your face.
by DjackVia USA Today The LA Rams, are reportedly going to offer Jeff Fisher an extension on his deal. Why? Jeff Fisher, is one of those guys that keeps getting head coaching jobs, and no one ever knows why. 21 years as a head coach, he has 6 winning seasons. He can thank Steve Mcnair and Eddie George, most of that success was from them carrying the squad. The Rams, should not be looking to offer this doofus an extension, what they should be doing is trying to lure Nick Saban to Hollywood. Although, that's quite far fetched. They changed cities, they should've traded changed coaches, four years no playoff appearances and no winning records its enough of a sample to size to realize it's time to kick this bum to the curb. A bum is what he is, he looks one, acts like one, and coaches like one. A lot, went into making this happen, so it's quintessential that this team performs well and wins ball games. The league wants them to be on prime time, they have to being the spotlight like everything in Hollywood, and with Fisher that's just not possible. Another 8-8 season fans, well at least you hope so because that's your ceiling.
By Nicky D credit: sports-deli.com Last season under Todd Bowles first season as the head coach of the Jets, led them to a 10-6 record, finishing 2nd in the AFC East. This was the first season the Jets have finished the season with a positive record since 2010, which was also the last time they have made the playoffs. Last season was a good season for Gang Green, despite not making a playoff appearance the combination of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall made them close to it. Both Fitzpatrick and Marshall had arguably the best season of their careers, Fitzpatrick threw for nearly 4,000 yards with 31 TDs (NYJ Record) and Marshall finished the season with 1,500+ receiving yards, with 14 TDs and a pro bowl appearance. The conflict the AFC East faces each season is Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Lucky for the Jets and the rest of the league, Brady is suspended for the first 4 games of the season. This is the perfect time for the Jets to take advantage of this opportunity and try to finish first in the AFC East. I expect big years out of Fitzpatrick, Marshall,Leonard Williams and if healthy, Matt Forte. I predict a 9-7/10-6 finish for New York this year along with a great shot at a playoff run.
By, BobWell the #BillsMafia just found their franchise quarterback in the agile Tyrod Taylor. After beating out the likes of draft bust EJ Manuel and veteran Matt Cassell for the starting gig, a strong season breakout proved to Bills management why they need to keep Taylor along for the long term.Ian Rapoport, and NFL Media Insider, reported the deal is for $92 million over six years plus incentives, per a source. Basically, Tyrod might not play through his entire new contact, because there are certain incentives in the language that he must prove he deserves all that money. I like Tyrods' game as he reminds me of an old school Michael Vick, but i am not entirely sure he is worth all that money. If he can play above average football at a constant and healthy basis and lead Buffalo back to the playoffs, then there is no question he has earned every dime in his new hefty paycheck. After being a backup for most of his 6 year Career in Baltimore, Tyrod became a leader in his new home of savage Buffalo. In the fourteen games he started last season, Taylor threw for 3,035 yards at a 63.7 completion percentage with 20 touchdowns and only a mere six interceptions. He also did work on the ground, rushing for 568 yards with four rushing scores and led all quarterbacks in rushing yards per game with 40.6. I'm happy for this man, he finally got a chance by the foot God Rex Ryan, and he proved his worthy-ness of being a starting caliber quarterback. I am a huge supporter of #BillsMafia; they are damn good fans and know how to have a fun time so i hope he can bring glory back to this city. I am expecting him and Sammy Watkins (if he can stay healthy) to put up numbers this season, and Tyrod might be a mid-tier fantasy quarterback for all you fantasy lovers out there. Congrats to the big dawg, now go out there and prove it was not a one year wonder.
By, BobIt might be time for Patriots fans to start getting a little nervous. With their God Tom Brady already suspended the first four games of the season, luck does not seem to be on their side with the injury bug being caught early by many crucial players. Between the end of last season and training camps, many household names to New England fans are landing on the PUP list. Wide receiver Danny Amendola is still physically unable to perform with a nagging knee while last years breakout running back Dion Lewis still cannot practice since he is still trying to mend from tearing his ACL. As if those two weren't enough, the Patriots got more bad news yesterday with defensive end Rob Ninkovich going down with a triceps tear in practice that will keep him sidelined possibly until after week one. Trading Chandler Jones to Arizona is starting to look like a very bad move, as NE is going to have to rely on newly acquired Chris Long to go off while his teammate is getting better. Other names that are on their injured reserve include starting linemen Sebastian Vollmer, and Johnathon Cooper and Super Bowl 49 hero corner-back Malcolm Butler. Now this is where it gets scary for Pats fans, their star wide receiver Julian Edelman had finally returned to practice, only to be carted off the field on Tuesday with an apparent leg injury. After breaking his leg last season, who knows how he will perform now even if this injury turns out to be nothing. Now, I hate the Pats, my Giants have embarrassed them time after time, but if there is one team who can somehow get through all this shit it is them. Jimmy G finally has a chance to show what he is made of in the NFL so i would pray every night until week one that he is good Patriots fans. Oh, another positive is the party animal Gronk that they have at their disposal which can hopefully make up for the losses of potentially the two other decent receivers on this team. We will see how the year goes for the Pats, hopefully this plague of injuries does not ruin their season, but hey if it did i would not really care.
by Djack" Wish we pulled an Eli Manning on draft day." The words of Joey Bosa's mother, as this rookie still has not been able to figure out a contract with the San Diego Chargers. I'm usually totally against a players family or wife speaking out for them in a situation because it's not their career, but this time i loved it. Mrs. Bosa is a savage, shes the momma bear trying to push her over sized cub out of the den, the problem being the San Diego Zoo is trying to trap him in a shitty cage and treat him unfairly the first few years in the free world. Yes, that was the best analogy i could think of, its Monday cut me some slack. You get the point though, San Diego is a shit show of a franchise and Bosa just wants the contract he thinks he deserves and San Diego should have no problem giving it to him. The last thing this franchise needs is for Bosa to go elsewhere, become a star, and end up regretting letting him walk just like how they regret not being able to keep 2x Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning.(Thank God these idiots gave us Eli Manning) San Diego you barely got to keep your team this year and know you know why, whatever morons you have upstairs in the front office clearly aren't the most qualified people and you should look into replacing them ASAP.
