By DjackBig 12 Championship: Oklahoma State 10 vs Oklahoma 9 A battle of the forgotten power 5 conference, while every other conference championship game has CFP implications, the Big 12 didn't due to the lack of quality teams in the conference. Formerly one of the most dominating conferences in college football, is now a thing of the past with programs like Texas, TCU, and Baylor all falling off. Regardless of the state of the conference, their was still a conference champion to be crowned, and it'd be the battle of Oklahoma to decide the Big 12 Championship. Oklahoma may have played their best game of the season yesterday, Baker Mayfield was a mad men with a legendary handlebar mustache, which he should keep by the way since he lit it up. Mayfield had 4 completions over 20 yards in the first half, two of them went for 65+ yards, and he didn't turn the ball over at all. Mayfield was running around looking like Derek Carr with the energy he was showing on the field, throwing touchdowns, and then doing the patented Lebron chest pound, pure savagery. Oklahoma State wouldn't go away though, they'd actually take a 17-10 lead in the second quarter, but it wouldn't last long as Oklahoma tied the game up before halftime. Going into half with a tie game after how well Oklahoma's offense played was a huge plus for OKST. Unfortunately for OKST, it wouldn't translate to the second half, the second half was all Oklahoma, they took a different approach in the second half offensively, and it paid of big time. Although they were lighting it up through the air, the Sooners decided to cut back on the aerial assault, and start the ground impound. This turned out to be a genius decision, not only because Samaje Perine is an absolute tank, but it wore out the opposing defense, and kept the OKST offense off the field. Oklahoma was playing defense with their offense by keeping the other teams offense off the field, pure brilliance. The second half was all Sooners, they outscored OKST 21-3 in the second half going on to win the BIG 12 Championship 38-20. Baker Mayfield also announced after the game he will be returning to Oklahoma for his Senior season, this puts Oklahoma in the discussion for potential playoff contenders next year, and if he plays like he did in the first half of this game next season, this team has a chance to be special. SEC Championship: Florida 15 vs Alabama 1 Either the SEC is the most overrated conference in college football or the Alabama Crimson Tide are just that good. We'll have to wait until the playoff to find that out, but last night's SEC championship game was not pretty to say the least. Gators jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in this one, their only lead of the game, but still the defense was dominating Alabama's offense, and it looked like we might actually see a competitive game. Boy was that misleading, Alabama's defense and special teams decided it didn't matter if the offense couldn't score because they would do it for them. Alabama got a pick six and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, jumping out to a 16-9 lead after the Gators blocked the extra point try returning it for 2 points. Alabama started to pull away after that, they went up 33-9, then the Gators scored right before the half to make it 33-16 at halftime. Alabama had a comfortable lead, but Florida was still within striking distance. The game ended in the third quarter when Florida was stuffed on an absolute savage goalline stand from the Albama defense. After that it was literally all Alabama, the Gators seemed to lose all hope of winning the game after that, and I can't blame them they were just physically outmatched, nothing the could do about it. Bama went on to win 54-16, winning the SEC championship in a blowout. Bama is now 13-0, they can be the first power 5 team ever to go 15-0 if they are to win it all. This is the most dominate Saban coached Bama team I've ever seen. As much as I want to believe another team can beat Bama, I just don't see anyone giving them a real test, but I really hope I'm wrong. Sick of seeing miserable Saban lift the trophy every year, if he were to lose he wouldn't sleep for a month straight, especially if Urban Meyers, and the Buckeyes knocked em out again. ACC Championship: Virginia Tech 23 vs Clemson 3 The Deshaun Watson show was in full effect last night, if it wasn't for him this Clemson team would be a joke, and not even in this ACC championship to begin with. Clemson needed to win this game to essentially secure their spot into the CFP, even though they don't deserve to get in, but that's a discussion for a different article. Watson was in full win mode last night, for a majority of this season he didn't run nearly as much as he did last season, I think that's because he fears injury, and he wants to showcase himself as a pocket passer for NFL teams. Last night, we saw the Deshaun Watson of last year, he ran the ball 17 times, and he was also lighting it up through the air. He had 373 yards of total offense, 5 total touchdowns, although he did throw an interception. Clemson seemed to be in cruise control for most of this game, they'd pull away with ease, but then the defense would allowed Virginia Tech right back in the game. Clemson led from start to finish, but it's another unimpressive win from an unimpressive team, they're just lucky Deshaun Watson is there to cover up all this teams flaws. Clemson wins the ACC championship 42-35 and will most likely be advancing to the CFP, even though they don't deserve to. BIG 10 Championship: Penn State 7 vs Wisconsin 6
My worst nightmare occured last night, Penn State needed to win the BIG 10 in order for them to have a legitimate case to say they deserve to get into the CFP. The thing is all the other teams won their conference championships as well, except one, Ohio State. I didn't want to leave it up to this brainless committee to decide, so I was pulling hard for Wisconsin to win this game. Wisconsin got off to an amazing start, they marched down the field on offense scoring on their opening drive. That was followed up by a 67 yard touchdown run and just like that Wisconsin was up 14-0. The Penn State offense was not prepared for the Wisconsin defense judging by their 2 awful offensive possesions to start the game. I was already claiming Wisconsin BIG 10 champs and was hyped that Ohio State was going to be a shoe in for the CFP. Penn State scored making it 14-7, but then Wisconsin began to blow the doors off again going up 28-7. TJ Watt had just gotten a strip sack and recovered it, so this game looked all but over, Wisconsin was dominating, and Penn State was not ready to reciprocate the energy Wisconsin brought to the field. Penn State would close the gap before half making it 28-14, but everyone knew Wisconsin had this game in the bag. Damn, everyone was so so so wrong, Trace McSorley took every Wisconsin fans soul in the second half, this kid was the only one who came to play for Penn State in the first half, and he also came to play in the second half, except this time he brought the rest of his troops back out with some serious energy. Penn State would come out of the half score on a 70 yard touchdown pass, followed up by another touchdown drive, and the game was now tied up 28-28. Wisconsin would kick a field goal the score was now 31-28 Wisconsin goinh into the fourth. Fourth quarter was owned by Penn State they'd score early in the third quarter to take a 35-31 lead that they wouldn't give back. They'd get a field goal later in the quarter to make it a 7 point game. Wisconsin had the ball and was driving late, they were looking to send this game to overtime, but first they needed to convert a 4th and 1 first. The Wisconsin running back gets stuffed by the Penn State defense and now all chaos breaks loose. Why couldn't Wisconsin make things easy and beat Penn State, now the committee is going to break someone's heart, and it better not be mine. I'm going to be enraged with an uncontrable amount of fury if #2 Ohio State gets jumped by #7 Penn State, that'd be absolutely ridiculous, and would ruin all credibility that the CFP polls have before the actual selection Sunday. Ohio State has played the toughest schedule of teams with a loss that are still in the running, so they should clearly get in. We lost to Penn State on a special teams play, if we get left out because of that, this system is worse than the last one and I officially quit watching college football. Expand to 8 teams and we never have this problem again, time to get this right for the fans.

By UppyRedskins wide receiver Desean Jackson is due to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season and according to reports..... he could land back in Philly!! If you somehow forgot, Desean was cut from the Eagles in 2014 by then head coach Chip Kelly, because he thought DJack was in a gang??????? Then like a day after he got cut the news came out like "na fam he's straight" and Chip was like "well golly I just don't trust his character". Am I going to sit here and defend Desean's character? No. I totally thought it was plausible that he was in a gang since he comes from southern California and IDK if you've about that area but uh:
What I will sit here and defend is Desean Jackson's ability to run straight down the field faster than the people on the defense can. Desean is going to be 30 and would still be our best deep threat by far. Clearly Jordan Mathews and Nelson Agholor aren't legit deep threats so why not resign the guy who was arguably our single best deep threat since Terrell Owens? If there's any real argument that needs to be made to justify bringing Desean Jackson back I will give you exhibits A,B, and C.
Exhibit A: Exhibit B: Exhibit C:
He's so fast he makes fast people look not fast. And you can't put a price tag on speed. Well you can but we need it so I'm willing to spend lots of money to give Carson Wentz some god damn help. BRING DESEAN BACK TO PHILLY!!!
By DjackThis game defied Washington's season, the committee put them as the 4 seed in the CFP poll, so they knew what they had to do to get in, win. That was not going to be an easy task against Colorado, they're ranked 8th in the nation, and they're undefeated in any game that their starting QB, Sefo Liufau, has played the whole 60 minutes. One of those games coming against Michigan, in which Colorado was actually leading 21-7 midway through the third, then Liufau went down, and so did Colorado. Otherwise we might be discussing that Colorado deserves to be in the CFP with a win in this game. Too bad they wouldn't win the game, they wouldn't even compete, they might as well have just not showed up because Washington humiliated them. Washington didn't beat Colorado, Washington tarnished any credibility Colorado had built up throughout the course of this season. People say Washington will get killed by a good BIG 10 team or a good SEC team, so imagine what would happen to Colorado. Funny people say that because Colorado gave Michigan, a good BIG 10 team, serious trouble, if it weren't for Liufau getting injured, Colorado might've actually won that game. Clearly, Colorado isn't a bad team, Washington is just a lot better than most of us thought. We all knew Jake Browning was good, I mean he's been a Heisman hopeful most of the season, so we knew that kid was the real deal, but he didn't even do anything in the championship game.
Washington got to work early, they'd score on their first drive of the game with no resistance from the Colorado defense. Colorado would respond a little later in the quarter, tying the game up at 7 a piece, and the PAC-12 championship was off to a highly competitive start. It wouldn't last though, Washington put together another touchdown drive early in the second quarter, it'd be one of two touchdowns from Browning in this game. Score was 14-7 after the first half, Colorado's offense was struggling, but it was still only a one possession game, so they were still in good position to win. That'd come to an end quickly, Liufau on the first play of the second half throws a pick six. From there on out, it was all Washington. They'd outscore Colorado 27-3 in the second half, it was probably one of the more shocking turn of events I've ever seen play out in a game of this caliber. A team fighting in the first half, looking like a very worthy opponent, and then they just come out in the second half flatter than the Earth before Christopher Columbus. It was mind boggling, the pick six was just the dagger, but it was way too early and close of a game to be a dagger, but that's how the Colorado players made it look. Browning only completed 9-24 passes for 118 yards, he had 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions he did what was needed from him in this game, which wasn't much since the rest of his squad balled out. Washington is now a shoe in for the CFP, they not only won their conference, they made a statement doing so. Washington wins the PAC-12 Championship 41-10 over Colorado and will be advancing to the CFP for the first time since 1991 when they won the championship. Chris Petersen has done a phenomenal job, he has his team 12-1 a year ahead of schedule, that's right, the majority of his players will be back next year, so they'll be right back here next season, just probably playing USC instead. Looks like the PAC-12 has revamped themselves as a conference with what's going to end up being like 5 teams in the top 25. DjackMAC Championship Ohio vs Western Michigan 17:
Conference championship weekend was kicked off by the always entertaining MAC championship. This game always offers a classic matchup, usually featuring one team that is undefeated looking to play in a big bowl game for a chance to prove they're the real deal, versus whatever other team does good enough that year to make it to the game. Well, we certainly got the classic matchup this year, Western Michigan is undefeated, looking to play in a big bowl game against a power 5 conference team, and Ohio is the random team that was good enough in an impressive conference to get to the big game. This was a funny game because I expected WMU to decimate Ohio like they did to every other team in the country, that would not be the case though. WMU got out to a 6-0 lead after one quarter, both teams were plagued by three and outs, fumbles, and just poor offensive execution early on. Western Michigan finally got things going offensively on a drive that started at the very end of the fourth quarter. They'd march down the field methodically, 17 plays, 77 yards, and the end result was another three points as they were forced to settle for 3. Ohio answered with a touchdown, the first, and only time they'd get something going in the first half. Corey Davis of WMU, showed us why he'll be playing in the NFL next year as he took a 15 yard crossing route, and turned it into a 70 yard touchdown. He put the burners on these small school MAC players who he outran with ease on the way to his 51st touchdown of his collegiate career. Western Michigan ultimately ended up jumping out to a 23-7 lead at the end of the first half. Ohio tried mounting a little comeback, but the game was never really in question despite the score making it seem like it came down to the wire. Western Michigan goes 12-0, winning the MAC Championship 29-23 over Ohio. Ohio put a little fear into the hearts of WMU, at the end of the day they just weren't even close to being the better team, and I'm really fucking hyped to see WMU play a top 25, power 5 conference team. Should be an interesting game, usually is, just think how legendary those Boise State games used to be, let's all pray for one of those. By BobRob Gronkowski has without a doubt been a superstar for the New England Patriots since his debut in 2011. Unfortunately, as any knowledgeable football fan knows, he has a knack for piling up injuries which cause him to miss large portions of the season. He started off the 2016 year by missing the first two games, and now it looks like he won’t play another snap of football until next year. It was announced from Patriots camp that Gronk will be out indefinitely due to having back surgery tomorrow. This is not the first time Gronk is having his back operated on either, this man has two surgeries already under his belt and he is only 27. Gronk may be a specimen while on the field but it should be very concerning how often he gets injured. Other injuries he has dealt with over his career include his ankle, ACL, and arm..I would say all of those are pretty key when it comes to playing professional football. There is no doubt Gronk will come back from his third back surgery A-Okay, but the long-term future of Gronk’s career has to be in question. How long is this man going to be able to play with having the bones of brittle old man? If the injuries keep piling up at this rate, I would not be surprised if the young party animal calls it quits after winning another ring or two. If not retire, there is always the possibility Belichick letting him walk once he is an UFA in 2020 when he is 31 years old. Father time is never a player’s friends, but he will always catch up to the best of them.
The New England Patriots knew this was bound to happen seeing how it basically does every season which is why they invested in a back-up plan: Martellus Bennett. Obtaining Bennett for Chicago back in the summer is about to pay huge dividends now that playoffs are fast approaching. This big guy is not only a playmaker himself, but he has such a huge persona in the locker room that he will be able to fill the void of Gronk pretty well. Even though the Patriots path to the Super Bowl just got a lot more complicated, with Tom Brady leading the way anything is possible. |
