With Week 1 of the NFL coming up on it's final hours, lets take a look back at who dominated their competition and helped some happy owners win from Sunday's games. Several top draft picks stumbled in week 1, struggling to perform up to their hyped levels, but others shined much brighter than expected.
At QB, there were a few big names that had themselves big games, starting with Andrew Luck. Luck dominated the Lions, but his team came up short. He scored 37 points, throwing for 385 yards and 4 touchdowns, on 31 of 47 completions. Next was Drew Brees, who is no stranger to big stat games, as he threw for 423 yards, with 4 touchdowns, on 28 of 42 passing, for 36 points. Alex Smith, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston all performed very well, posting no less than 26 points for their teams.
At RB, CJ Anderson scored big for the Broncos on Thursday night, posting 27 points on two touchdowns. Following behind him are two unexpected names, Theo Riddick and Jalen Richard, who posted 24.5 and 21 points respectively. Both backs helped lead their teams to victories.
The top WR's from Sunday were some of the most impressive performances of the day, with AJ Green leading the way, as he purchased a permanent home on Revis Island, and caught 12 balls for 180 yards and a TD, tied for a third highest of the day on point total at 34, with Saints WR Brandin Cooks, who had 6 catches for 146 yards and 2 scores. Cooks combined with teammate Willie Snead, who scored 28.5 points on 9 catches and a TD totaling 172 yards.
I would expect some big names to rebound from last week, and Antonio Brown is currently dominating as I write this article and Todd Gurley will run over the 49ers tonight, but I expect AP, Julio, and Odell to find the end zone and grab a big chunk of yards.
