Week 2 NFL Power Rankings

ESPN has released it's week two power rankings, when I first cam across it I was blown away at where some of these teams were slotted it was almost comical. It seems like a lot of the judgement they out into this week's Power Ranking was based mostly off last year's performance more than last week's performance. I'll show who ESPN has in their Top 10 and why, and then I'll show my top 10 and why. Here we go...

"1. Green Bay Packers 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 6
Jordy Nelson gained only 32 yards in his return, but caught six balls for three first downs in the process. It was a microcosm for the Packers' offense in Week 1 (getting by with just enough), but the Vikings should provide a tougher test in Week 2.

2. New England Patriots
 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 3
Tom who? Rob who? Jimmy Garoppolo led the Brady-less and Gronkowski-less Patriots to an impressive victory in Arizona in Week 1 to move up the rankings. Next up? The Dolphins at home. The Pats are 20-1 at home against division foes since 2009.

3.
Seattle Seahawks 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 1
The Seahawks were the top-ranked team in our Power Rankings, but a two-point victory at home over the Dolphins doesn't inspire confidence. Seattle could slip lower after a Week 2 matchup at Los Angeles. The Seahawks have lost three of their past four games against the Rams.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 2
If you forgot how good Antonio Brown was, let a 126-yard, two-touchdown Monday night performance serve as a reminder. Look for Brown to have another big game in Week 2 against the division rival that ended his season early with a hit to the head last postseason.

5.
Arizona Cardinals 2016 record: 0-1
Week 1 ranking: No. 4
There are worse things in the world than losing to the Patriots, even withoutTom Brady. But a loss to the Bucs at home in Week 2 would give the Cardinals their first 0-2 start since 2005.

6. Carolina Panthers 2016 record: 0-1
Week 1 ranking: No. 5
Cam Newton was sacked, hit while throwing or hit while rushing 17 times in Week 1, his most ever in regulation. Newton could certainly use a break already and he may get one in Week 2, as the Panthers host the 49ers.

7.
Houston Texans 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 13
Lamar Miller was one of two backs to rush for 100 yards in Week 1, and Will Fuller became the first Texans rookie to gain 100 receiving yards in a season opener. Neither was around last season when the Chiefs -- the Texans' Week 2 opponent -- beat Houston 30-0 in the playoffs.

8.
Denver Broncos 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 8
Trevor Siemian was one of three quarterbacks with multiple interceptions in Week 1, but a formula of great defense and good-enough quarterback play worked for the Broncos last season. It will need to work again in Week 2 with Andrew Luck and the Colts coming to town.

9. Cincinnati Bengals 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 7
Let Week 1 serve as a reminder of how good A.J. Green is, as he dropped 180 yards against a secondary with Darrelle Revis. Green and the Bengals look to get their revenge against the Steelers this week.

10. Oakland Raiders 2016 record: 1-0
Week 1 ranking: No. 11
Don't worry Jack, we aren't trying to take your job. The numbers simply showed how gutsy a call it was to go for two. Thanks to that conversion, the Raiders will be looking for their first 2-0 start since 2002 when they host Atlanta this week." -Via ESPN.com
1. New England Patriots 2016 record 1-0
How could they not be the best team in the NFL, they are missing their two best players, and still beat a Cardinals team that is just a few months removed from an NFC championship game. Tip of the cap to Bill as he shows he can win with anybody on the field, true genius.

2.Pittsburgh Steelers 2016 record 1-0
After a kick ass performance last night I have the Steelers as number two in my power rankings. The defense showed that they can shut an offense down and the Offense showed that they are one of the most explosive in the league even without one of their biggest playmakers LeVeon Bell.

3. Green Bay Packers 2016 record 1-0
They beat a gritty Jaguars team just by a hair but a win is a win it doesn't matter how it comes. They were able to put up points on a very talented Jaguars defense, and their own defense was able to make a crucial stop when they had too.

4. Cincinnati Bengals 2016 record 1-0
They beat a very talented Jets team even if it was because of a botched field goal from Nick Folk. Andy Dalton struggled a little bit without some of his weapons from last year but  AJ Green proved he's one of the best receivers in the game by cooking Revis all day long. The defense is basically the same as last year so they're just as intimidating as always, will this be the year Marvin Lewis finally wins a playoff game.

5. Seattle Seahawks 2016 record 1-0
Man did this Seattle team look absolutely dreadful against a Miami Dolphins team that will struggle to go .500 this year. The defense I have no complaints about they did their job, although a Kenny Stills dropped TD pass did help them immensely. I'm sure it was just a bad game for Seattle's offense and that they'll bounce back but if they don't next week against the Rams this team could be in some trouble.

6. Arizona Cardinals 2016 record 0-1
I'm not going to overreact whatsoever and say this team is on the decline because they clearly aren't. They played the most buttoned up organization in football and lost, no shame in that. The thing is they should've won that game if it wasn't for a missed field goal at the end of regulation. The Cards will bounce back next week no problem.

7. Houston Texans 2016 record 1-0
Now I may be overreacting on this one but I really love this Texans team. They have outstanding young wide receivers, a good young running back, and a good young quarterback. They did play the bears so I don't want to get too excited, but they took care of business and showed they're the team to beat in the AFC South.

8. Oakland Raiders 2016 record 1-0
Jack Del Rio's gutsy called landed them at #8 on my power rankings. Derek Carr showed he could compete in shootouts with even the best of quarterbacks like Drew Brees and also showed he's got the clutch gene. I expect for this Raiders defense to keep improving as the year goes on, and if they do watch out because their offense is definitely top 10 in the league.

9. Denver Broncos 2016 record 1-0
The defense and running game proved that they can win ball games against the best of em. I think this team hit their ceiling already though and as more game film comes out on Siemian the more teams will be able to take advantage of this poor offense. The defense will only be able to win them so many games if their offense starts averaging under 20 points per game.

10. Carolina Panthers 2016 record 0-1
My rankings are based purely off what I have seen  from this season, so before you kill me just keep that in mind. The Panthers had the game against Denver in the palm of their hand and just blew it. The best front 7 in football was unable to slow down CJ Anderson as he torched them. Cam was also the leading rusher for the Panthers that cannot be the case if they want to win ball games and keep Cam healthy.
