12/5/2016 Giants Show Serious Room for Improvement After an Embarrassing Loss to PittsburghRead NowBy DjackThere wasn't one point in yesterday's game where I didn't feel sick to my stomach, from the opening kickoff to the final snap the Giants looked horrendous. The defense played good enough to win, they're the reason we didn't lose 35-7, but the offense, my god they're unbearable to watch, and completely flushed this game down the toilet for us. I'm so tired of seeing three and out drives that last 90 seconds, every week I say to myself this is the week they'll break out, and it never happens. Ever now again we will see flashes of what the offense can do when we find a nice rhythm, which is almost never. We've become a big play offense, if we don't have big plays on offense we just simply don't score, we can't put together methodical drives, we're lucky to pick up 10 first downs in a game, it's absolutely pathetic. The thing I don't understand is how do we go from being a top ten offense last year, to whatever you want to call this dreadful display on the offensive side of the ball from the Giants. We added several playmakers, how the fuck did we get worse. I don't want to say it, I never want to say it, but Eli needs to step the fuck up man. Two interceptions deep in Steelers territory yesterday and he threw a ball into good coverage to Will Tye on fourth down that he should've thrown to Perkins who was wide open in the flats. Seems like Eli doesn't have any faith in his O-line even though they seem to give him ample time most downs, he seems to not look to his third and fourth read as much as he should, and he still makes decisions that lead to interceptions that leave you scratching your head. Eli has been very inconsistent throughout the season, some balls he throws you don't even know who the intended receiver is they're thrown so wildly, and then the next play will be a perfect throw that few QB's can make. Eli is truly an anomaly.
As for Pittsburgh, I wouldn't be too thrilled with this win. Steelers had 11 penalties for 125 yards, Tomlin continues to go for two despite it never working, and the undisciplined Steelers couldn't put away a Giants' team until late in the fourth that literally couldn't have played worse. Steelers defense is not good despite the Giants making them look like they were. The Steelers secondary was also getting away with pass interference on Odell the entire game, every replay I saw the Steelers defender was holding his arm or hand down, he didn't get one call until the very end when it didn't matter anymore. Can't blame the refs though, even if they are blind, and essentially useless. Giants offense simply has to play better if we want to beat above average teams. We were able to get by with just our good defense over the course of the 6 game winning streak because we weren't necessarily playing good football teams, but that's gonna have to change because all the gimme games are in the past. All we need to do is win two of our last four and we'll be in the playoffs, so hopefully this was just a really rough week, and all will be better next week when we kick the Dallas Cowboys ass.
