By MukThe rematch 5 years in the making, between Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza will have to wait a few more months at least, as Rockhold has been scratched from UFC Fight Night 101, on November 26th. A huge disappointment for these two middleweight contenders, as Rockhold and Souza looked to both place themselves in title contention with a victory. Souza's camp has already asked the UFC for a title shot against Michael Bisping, so we will keep an eye on how that pans out, but we know Bisping is potentially medically suspended for another 4 months or so after the beat down his brain took from Hendo.
So for the sake of this blog, lets assume Bisping is out of the cards right now for Souza. With that being said, I can't name a single fighter in the top 10 worth Jacare's time. Chris Weidman and Yoel Romero are already facing off in just over a month, with the winner seeking the same title shot that Souza and Rockhold were. Behind them, the obvious choice would be Gegard Mousasi, but unluckily for the UFC, Souza, and Mousasi, he just accepted a rematch with Uriah Hall, who brutally finished him a year ago, a fight that we should expect Gegard to dominate, as he has improved ten-fold in the last year. The only fight I think worth fighting for Souza is Anderson Silva, and even that fight is a bit of a stretch. Ronaldo Souza should be able to take care of an old Anderson Silva with little trouble (if he expects to truly be the 185 pound champion), so that fight would be more of a novelty than a true contender match-up. I'm sure these questions will all be answered in the coming week, but as for Luke Rockhold, you hate to see him go down with an injury especially after what a turbulent 2016 it has been for him, and I don't know what is it that they're doing over at AKA (American Kickboxing Academy), where Rockhold has long trained, but those boys just keep on getting hurt.... Cain, DC, Luke, even Khabib... suspicious....
