By MukOne of the UFC's most talented division's has yet another outspoken star, who believes that the current title situation is not only a joke, but "fu**ing bullshit". Anderson Silva, the greatest fighter in MMA history, and hands down the greatest Middleweight fighter there ever will be, who defended his belt an astounding 10 times - the UFC's record up until last month when "Mighty Mouse" Johnson - has stated that if he does not get a an interim title fight against Yoel Romero, he will retire.
This outburst from "The Spider" is stemming from the fact that the current title-holder, Michael Bisping, is set to defend his belt against Georges St. Pierre sometime this summer, but there's one key word - sometime. There is still not date set for this bout, and the division is continuously growing restless, as if it already wasn't restless, with worthy contenders overflowing. Anderson Silva called for him and Yoel Romero to face off in an Interim Title fight this summer, with the winner getting an immediate title shot vs. the winner of Bisping & GSP. The claim is not something that everyone will back, as Silva has not been on a serious hot-streak, losing four of his last five fights, but he did win his most recent fight over Derek Brunson, but he does deserve the most amount of respect of anyone in the division, because as he said during his interview, he has done so much for the UFC, and it's time for them to do something for him. Whether you think it's deserved or not, the UFC has to do something about the Middleweight division, because with contenders like Luke Rockhold, Gegard Mousasi, Anderson Silva, Yoel Romero, Robert Whitaker, and more fighters clawing their way to the top, there is too much to lose for the division. Bisping and GSP is a fight that is very unpopular with the fighters, and some fans, because GSP is coming out of retirement and getting a title shot right away, but whether it's right or wrong, it's going to happen, so if I was the UFC, and I wanted to look to keep one of my most prolific fighters ever happy, I would at least call up Anderson Silva and let him speak his mind directly to Dana White, and maybe, just maybe, give him that Interim Title fight.
