Stanton Out For Rest of Season

Marlins outfielder Gincarlo Stanton has been ruled out for the rest of the season after a groin injury. This completely changes the wildcard race in the national league. Stanton, who has the most raw power in baseball without question, was a keystone in the middle of the marlins lineup. Ichiro will take over for him in right field. Don't get me wrong I love Ichrio as much as the next guy but he's a huge downgrade from both an offensive and defensive standpoint.This greatly weakens their lineup and I'm positive that their playoff hopes are done for. They don't have enough pitching especially after their number 2 starter Adam Conley also hit the DL this week. The marlins have exceeded expectations up to this point in the year and have some very solid players that will be even better next year. I think they will make the playoffs next year especially if they add a solid number two pitcher behind their ace Jose Fernandez. In a highly competitive national league wild card race, there are 5 teams who are extremely happy after hearing the news on Stanton. The Cardinals, Giants, Dodgers, Pirates and Mets all have a better chance of making the playoffs. Sorry Marlins fans, this just wasn't the year.
