By BobThis is probably the last thing the New York Mets needed during a playoff push. Neil Walker has played great this year, with a stat line of .282 BA, 23 HR and 55 RBI's there is no doubt he has been one of the most consistent offensive weapons that the Metropolitan's have. Well, all i have to say is classic Mets. They bring in a great player, he brings some spark to the lineup and then gets injured..talk about depressing. Mets GM Terry Collins says Walker has been dealing with the problem "on and off all season" but it has really started acting up this August. The back problem all stems from a herniated disk which is causing him pain and weakness in his lower body. I am no Mets fans by any means, but I am pretty disappointing in them this year. I know they do not control injuries, but this group of guys were supposed to be an elite bunch this year and injuries and inconsistent play have put them fighting for their season. As of today it is September first and with them being 2.5 games behind the second wild card spot these boys are going to have to go full savage mode if they want to see games in October. I would like to see them go on a run similar to last year and make the World Series again but i just do not think they have that magic this year. I knew they lacked that magic as soon as Matt Harvey started pitching like a minor leaguer and got put on the shelf to end the worst season of his career. It is time to see if Yoenis and the rest of the gang can put up or shut up now in crunch time, it will be very interesting to see the result.
