by Nicky DCredit: NY Daily News Now that Alex Rodriguez is a free agent will he sign with another team? Rumors have been building up over the past 2 weeks that the Miami Marlins might have some interest in signing the veteran. Well after news got out today that slugger Giancarlo Stanton is out for the year with a groin injury, those rumors have become reality as Michael Hill, Marlins president of baseball operations said the team will "consider" signing A-rod. Well Michael Hill is 100% on crack. There are so many things wrong with any team considering signing A-rod. First of all Alex is 41 years old, he played all of this season with the Yankees as a DH, Well there's no DH in a national league lineup so A-rod would have to play a position. Alex is 100% done, he batted .200 with 9 home runs in 65 games in New York this year, if Alex indeed did come back and play again it would ONLY be DH. Second of all Yea the Yankees agreed to release Alex but they also hired him to a position in their front office where he is still making the 27 million he was suppose to, it would be stupid in A-rods point of view to drop the contract and sign a contract where he will be making much less and barely experience any playing time. The only way i can see this happening is if the Marlins signed Alex for strictly just marketing purposes only, Alex is 4 home runs away from 700. This can be similar to what they did with ichiro for his 3,000th hit. In conclusion A-Rod should accept his retirement and stay a mentor.
