By UppyThe Ducks accounted for about 6,987 penalty minutes at tonight's home opener for the Flyers' 2016-2017 campaign, and yet the Flyers failed to make Corey Perry pay for tripping every person he saw, and fell to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 3-2. The Flyers are confusing me. Provorov and Konencny were supposed to sling ice dong all across Philly, yet we've lost two of the first three. The rooks look great but the Flyers just can't scratch out these tough ones with good teams. The power play unit needs to get it together because they couldn't buy a scoring opportunity tonight.
Overall, the Flyers have been flying out but still need to put it all together. Still got 78 games left. P.S. Those 50th anniversary jerseys looked FLY

By UppyWell that overtime was fun to watch.
I can sum this game up in a few words: the Flyers took too many dumb penalties. Plain and simple that's why the Flyers lost. Not one, but two too many men on the ice penalties and should've been called for a third. That can't happen to an NHL team. Despite the dumb penalties (the Flyers had five and were getting called for a sixth during the OT goal) both teams were fun to watch. Shane Doan and the kids out in Arizona were flying around the ice and Ghost and co. were getting the many Flyers fans in attendance out of their seats. The Flyers did a great job to fight and get back into this game as Wayne Simmonds helped tie it up. Wayne was then called for a high hit on Oliver Ekman-Larsson which resulted in him getting booed by the Coyotes crowd, which to be honest is just the worst for the NHL. Like oh the one black guy on the ice is getting booed, of course. I digress. The Flyers absolutely dominated the OT and had about 15 solid scoring chances denied by Max Domi while Mike Smith stood on his head. Ekman-Larsson puts in a solid goal and we go home with the L. Oh well a points a point. We're on to Chicago. |
