There is absolutely no denying I have love for Lebron James, I debatably love him more then drinking... okay that's a little too far. Really though, I respect his game and character more then any other player alive but...he is far from Mr. Michael Jordan. Asides for his deeds to the community this summer, Lebron has brought up the living legend multiple times. First, he stated how he was motivated by "chasing the ghost that played in Chicago" which I actually find pretty whack. No shit you are Lebron, every person who picks up a basketball tries to model their career to try and become the greatest ball player who has ever lived. You don't need to come flat out in the open and say Jordan motivates you to keep playing, it makes you look like you literally want to be the man. As if that one claim at Jordan's legacy didn't already make him look thirsty enough it was reported today that Lebron stated once he retired that "My dream is to actually own a team". Hm, let me think that sounds kind of familiar. Is your goal to own the Charlotte Hornets too or do you just want Michael to notice you? I know Jordan isn't the only great player to now own a franchise (shoutout Larry Bird, don't sleep on the Pacers this year) but after his comments earlier in the summer it seems like Lebron has a man crush of that ghost in Chicago. If I were you Lebron, I'd keep the Jordan comments to a dull roar. Make your own legacy and stop trying to model it by the man who made basketball exciting. I love Lebron, but he will never catch up to the greatest player to ever live if he lets it be the thought in the back of his head during the rest of his career, it will only keep him from his full potential.
