By DjackA lot was at stake tonight, Lakers losing a potential top 4 pick, the Sixers having a pair of top 4 picks, and the Celtics getting the #1 overall pick while playing in the Eastern Conference Finals. That was all decided in the most dramatic, yet most unnecessary way, with the draft lottery process that took place tonight. Let me start off by saying stop with this lottery nonsense, I know it stops teams from tanking apparently, but obviously it doesn't since the Sixers did it, and it has worked out well for them. There's no point and all does is add unnecessary drama to a part of the team building process that doesn't need to be there. Anyways, we're stuck with it, so I guess we just have to live with it.
The Celtics did end up getting the #1 overall pick, something that surprised absolutely no one since they had the best odds to do so. The past three years the team with the best odds of getting the #1 overall pick has now gotten it. The Lakers were in jeopardy of losing their first round pick if they dropped below #3 overall in the lottery. Thankfully, they didn't, we got the #2 overall pick and it looks like Lonzo Ball will be a Laker. Bless up Laker fans this was a huge win for the future of our franchise tonight. Sixers didn't get their two picks like they had hoped, although they did land the #3 overall pick. Here's how the first 14 picks of the draft will look for 2017: 1. Boston Celtics 2. Los Angeles Lakers 3. Philadelphia 76ers 4. Phoenix Suns 5. Sacramento Kings 6. Orlando Magic 7. Minnesota Timberwolves 8. New York Knicks 9. Dallas Mavericks 10. Sacramento Kings 11. Charlotte Hornets 12. Detroit Pistons 13. Denver Nuggets 14. Miami Heat
