Last night the US men's team held off Australia, 98-88, after trailing at the half 54-49, their first time trailing in these games, as Australia's offense came out hot and firing. We knew Australia would be the US's biggest test in these games, as they have their fair share of NBA players who can definitely ball. This game was important for the US, because it's a reality check and a confidence builder, as they responded to the deficit and finished strong. Melo absolutely put the team on his back, dropping 30 points, and showing why he is Captain America. He's now the all time leading scorer in USA men's basketball history. Melo dropped 14 in the fourth, in true captain fashion, while Kyrie added 12 of his 19 in the final 6 & 1/2 minutes of the fourth. The US struggled at times and the Australian offense has proved troublesome with their constant screens and player movement, but for the US to prevail and finish so strong, it shows their will to win. The US men's team has not lost a Olympic game since 2004 and something tells me they don't plan on losing one anytime soon.
