By MukFight fans everywhere rejoiced as late last night the UFC reported that Daniel Cormier will defend his belt against Anthony "Rumble" Johnson at UFC 206, December 10th in Toronto.
I personally am very pumped for this fight, but it is also leaving me as a fight fan/idiotic Jon Jones fan torn, because I do want to see Jon face both of these men, as soon as possible, but it is unlikely that we will ever get to see all 3 superfights, of Jon vs. Rumble, Jon vs. Daniel, and Jon vs. Gustafson. There is no one to blame for all that than Jon himself, and if he didn't get himself into the UFC 200 issues that he did, he would've defeated Daniel then, DC at 205/206, and Gustafson in early 2017. But I am not here to complain about any of that, and this fight is absolutely one of the biggest in the upcoming months. DC defeated Rumble back in May of 2015 at UFC 187, to win the vacated UFC Light Heavyweight belt, but since then Rumble has been as hot as any fighter in the sport. He has won 3 straight since losing to Cormier, and his last two fights have lasted a combined 99 seconds. Rumble is the greatest knockout artist in the UFC, and the hardest hitting, and with a better camp, and gameplan, he will be a serious problem for Daniel. Now we have heard DC say on twitter that he wants to keep the fight stand-up and bang with Rumble, but let me tell you this right now - DC is a damn liar. He wants absolutely no part of a Rumble right hand, and will look to continue his success from the first fight between these two and dominate the ground and wear Rumble out, who is not known for his stamina, so it will be a challenge to see if Rumble can either put DC away, or survive in those championship rounds we know he is not too familiar with. This fight should be awesome regardless, and I really hope DC tries to stand and bang with Rumble, because if that's the case, while DC does have a great chin, I've got Rumble by early second round TKO.

By MukUFC fans everywhere will have to once again wait for the return of 'The Prodigy', BJ Penn. Penn will no longer be the headliner for the October 15th Philippines card, and it is unclear right now if the UFC will be able to replace Penn for the main event, and we will have to wait and see if Ricardo Lamas will have a new opponent. The BJ Penn comeback tour has been delayed once again, the third setback in the last year. Penn was first suspended for 6-months for the use illegal use of an IV, and then was being investigated by Hawaiian Police for a sexual assault charge, and now an injury. Penn has not fought since his 2014 loss to Frankie Edgar, and has been working towards a comeback for the past year or so. Penn is a UFC Hall-of-Famer, and is one of the greatest Mixed Martial Artists ever, holding belts at 155 & 170 pounds (not simultaneously; one of two men to ever hold 2 belts [Randy Couture]). He has been in some of the greatest fights in UFC history, and has always been a superstar, but with yet again another setback, it is hard to tell whether the 37-year old fighter will ever be able to make it back into the octagon, let alone the top of the ranks. I personally would like to see BJ Penn make a strong comeback, and hopefully this injury isn't major, and we will get to see the 'Prodigy' once again in 2016. By MukIt's a sad day in the MMA world, as news broke this morning that Josh Samman, 28-year-old UFC Middleweight, had passed away, less than a week after slipping into a coma. The cause of death is still undetermined, as Samman was found unresponsive in his South Florida Apartment, along with his roommate who was pronounced dead upon arrival to the hospital, and authorities determined no foul play was involved.
I clearly know no details about this situation, and it is rumored the men died as a result of drug overdoses, however, Samman's mother denied those rumors in a statement to FOX, and I am obligated to believe her, as Samman was really one of the good guys, and deserves our benefit of the doubt. (Part of his mother's statement): “In spite of speculation, there was no heroin found in Josh’s system whatsoever. No matter what people are posting on social media. The reason I am making this statement is because Josh touched so many lives, and loved inspiring others, especially young people. I don’t want them to lose faith in him, and whatever he brought out in them, because of the lies. He would want them to ‘never give up.'” Josh Samman had an overall record of 12-4, and was 3-2 in the UFC, and was a competitor on The Ultimate Fighter season 17, making it to the semi-finals of the show, where he lost to eventual winner, Kelvin Gastelum. Josh has been regarded as one of the most genuine human beings inside the sport of MMA, and the UFC specifically, and his death has drawn a great deal of attention from both fighters, and the MMA world outside the octagon, as Josh was also a well established writer for BloodyElbow.com and commentator. Josh dealt with more than his fair share of demons, and in 2013, his girlfriend died in a single car crash - while she and Josh were texting. Samman has battled substance abuse, and opened up about his experiences, and how the UFC has helped clean up all aspect of the sport, in an article he wrote for UFC.com (http://www.ufc.com/news/meet-jeff-novitzky-ufc-lead-anti-doping). Rest in peace Josh, condolences to his friends and family, God Bless. By MukThis Saturday's Manchester, England, UFC card will feature one of the biggest rematches in UFC history, as Michael Bisping looks to defend his Middleweight Belt against Dan Henderson. Bisping and Hendo fought back at UFC 100, in 2009, where Hendo knocked Bisping out with one of the most known, most memorable, and most devastating knockouts in MMA history. Michael Bisping is not one to shy away from talking shit before fights, and he has made it known that he feels he made Hendo's entire career after Hendo knocked him out, and he has gone on to say that he is going to eradicate that at UFC 204. While any real fan knows thats not true, being that Hendo is one of the sportest greatest competitors ever, and has been at the top level, and a champion, for 20 years in the sport. However this Saturday the odds look to be in the favor of Michael Bisping, who is overall just in a better fighting condition, with age, endurance, and his chin, but we all know that you can never doubt Hendo, and that a Hendo-Bomb could strike at any moment. I'm pulling for Hendo, that is not a difficult decision for me personally. I hate Bisping, but respect his skill level and his journey to becoming champion. I do think, that if Bisping were to lose, it would be awesome for Hendo to retire with the belt, leaving the belt vacant. Here's why -- we have the top 4 contenders in the division all squaring off within the next month and a half, with Chris Weidman fighting Yoel Romero, and Luke Rockhold fighting Ronaldo Souza. So if we have a vacated belt, and two fighters rise from these fights as contenders, they face off for the belt and we have the division off and rolling with still some good contenders ready to square up again. *Just a heads up, the knockout is brutal |
