The Flyers beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 in OT to extend the win streak to 6 games, the first time the Flyers have had such a win streak since December of 2011. The Flyers are playing inspired hockey and have been getting the nitty gritty done over the last few weeks. It's unfortunate that we had to go to OT because we need to learn to stop allowing tying goals in the 3rd period, but gosh dangit the 3v3 OT is just so dern exciting. Therefore:
Now let's start highlighting the men in Orange. ALL ABOARD THE WAYNE TRAIN I tweeted it tonight and I'll say it again: Wayne Simmonds and I would be best friends. Simmer notched two more goals today, accounting for four over the last two games. His first was a bit of a different goal than he's used to as he sped through the neutral zone and ripped a low glove side shot past Reimer, but his second came as he parked his ass right in front of the net and deflected a point shot to take a 2-1 lead. Simmonds now has 8 powerplay goals on the year, the most in the NHL. His two goals tonight also put him in a tie for third in the league with 15. JAKUB VORACEK ROUGH start to the night for Jake. First he whiffs on a puck early, breaks his stick on a power play, then rings a puck off the pipe on a WIDE open chance from point blank range. THANK GOD Jake put home the OT winner (his 9th of the year) for the Flyers or we may have had to hide his belts from him for a while. STEVIE MASON Mason stopped 42 of 44 shots tonight, with quite a few of them being of the spectacular variety. Stevie got me out of my seat a few times during OT and I am forever grateful to that man. IVAN PROVOROV The 19 year old phenom is my new favorite Flyer. He just plays like a Philadelphia athlete. Always hustling, always making smart plays, and he made Jaromir Jagr his BITCH tonight. He took a dive on the wily vet and Jagr DID NOT like it. I was praying for them to drop the gloves for the sheer fact that I know Jagr would find a way to win that fight. You don't mess with a 44 year old hockey player no matter how young and Russian you are. You lose that battle. You lose that battle 9 times out of 10. Overall the Flyers are making me forget about the Eagles and be happy again. Dear Flyers win streak:
