By DjackA game that was supposed to be a blood bath at Heinz Field between the Chiefs and Steelers turned into a quick butchery. The Steelers were calling it 'Redemption Sunday' because they got humiliated last week by the Philadelphia Eagles, it was the largest margin of defeat in Big Ben's tenure in Pittsburgh. Boy did the Steelers look like a team on a mission of redemption tonight, my god they literally made the Chiefs, a really good team in their own right, look like a bunch of JV football players. The Steelers were hitting twice as hard, playing with three times the effort, and were playing with 100 times more efficiency. They sought redemption tonight and they accomplished their goal. LeVeon Bell returned to the field tonight after starting the season on the sideline with a 3 game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. His presence in the lineup by itself made such a difference, you could tell the offense just looked like it was running so much smoother and with so much more rhythm even though he didn't even carry the ball over 20 times. This offense now has all it's weapons back minus Martavis Bryant who is done for the year, but they have all the necessary pieces for the offense to roll like a 12 cylinder engine. Todd Haley is probably the happiest man in the world that LeVeon is back because it makes his job that much easier, as if having Big Ben and Antonio Brown doesn't make it easy enough. Bell had 18 carries for 144 yards along with 5 catches for 34 yards in his return, the fact that he's only going to get better as the season goes on is a scary thought. The Steelers offense had three straight scoring drives in the first half which put a lot of pressure on the Chiefs offense to keep up, the thing is the Chiefs aren't a team that's built to play from behind. They like to run the ball down your throat so they can run variations of boot legs and play action, that's when Alex Smith is at his best. Whenever you read a box score that says Alex Smith threw the ball 50+ times, you should just automatically know the Chiefs lost. The Chiefs HAD to pass though, they went down so big, so fast, it all happened in the blink of an eye. The Chiefs defense is usually the team's backbone, but tonight Big Ben snapped that backbone in half. He had 5 touchdowns and threw for 300 yards, just another day at the office for Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers went onto win 43-14, the Chiefs scored both those touchdowns in garbage time, their offense wasn't even worthy of those points tonight. Steelers showed tonight that they should be the most feared offense in the league, also on the defensive end of the ball they showed when they play aggressively they can really hold their own. Although this is a demoralizing loss for the Chiefs, they can't dwell on this, look what happened to the Steelers last week, every team lays an egg throughout the season, they just have to get a little redemption of their own. Their bye week is this week though so their going to be very hungry to silence the critics when they play the Raiders in two weeks. Steelers play the ailing Jets next week so they should be able to keep business boomin after a statement win like this.
