Saints are reportedly interested in Johnny Manziel according to @RapSheet on twitter. This happens several months after we saw Johnny Manziel go on his party tour around the US via Snap Chat, doing all sorts of illegal drugs and not focusing on football whatsoever. Well, not too long ago he took to twitter to announce he was trying to make a comeback, I blogged it, and I believed(READ HERE). Now he's likely to land with the Saints and learn from future hall of famer Drew Brees, not many better people to have mentor you in this league than Drew Brees. Sean Payton being your head coach doesn't hurt either, having two people that know the quarterback position better than most people in the NFL is a nice thing to have going for you. If Johnny can land the gig as the backup QB for the Saints it'll be the best thing to happen in his NFL career. It might even be the move that saves him from being labeled a bust.
Manziel is still suspended by the NFL for failing to obey the NFL's drug policy. So, if Manziel were to be signed by the Saints he'd miss the first four games of season. None of this really matters since he won't be starting anyways. If there's any situation out there that can get Manziel on track, it's this one. Perfect QB to learn from, offensive minded head coach that is great with QB's, and the Saints aren't the most dysfunctional organization in the world like the Cleveland Browns. My only fear is New Orleans is quite the party town, I'm sure Johnny will be on shortest of leashes, however with his demons all around him it may be hard to avoid. Regardless, I'm pulling for the Johnny Football comeback story, so I hope this is his first step towards rekindling his success as a football player.
