By DjackIt's finally official, JPP is coming back to the Giants for four more years. Earlier today it was reported by Ian Rapoport that the Giants and JPP had reached an extension, although it was the first that JPP had heard of it. He proceeded to tweet out that he had signed no contract and it was just the NY media trying to get ahead of the story. Well, here we are just a few hours later and the deal has become official, even JPP confirmed this time that it was not fake news. The deal is 4 years $54 million guranteed and he'll get paid $17 million annually. JPP will now make as much as Olivier Vernon, the Giants other superstar pass rusher, and rightfully so. Giants win championships based off of how well they are able to get to the quarterback, bringing back JPP was essential in order to keep this formula working. A healthy JPP can do incredible things, him and Vernon together with both at full strength should be an exciting duo, however if JPP doesn't live up to this contract Jerry Reese is fucked. Giants are clearly going all in on the defensive side of the ball, that was made obvious with the JPP extension. Offensive line, running back, and Tight end were all positions that needed to be addressed this offseason, and they were, just not to the extent some fans were hoping for. Tight end we got Rhett Ellison, who will be great for blocking, but pretty useless in the passing game. Offensive line we acquired D.J. Fluker and resigned Jon Jerry, so don't expect to see much improvement from the offensive line. I'm sure adding Ellison will and Marshall will help the blocking in the running game, however Eli still doesn't have the best group of guys protecting him, which isn't promising with a QB of Manning's age. Running back we didn't upgrade at all and I'm totally fine with that, I believe in Paul Perkins more than anyone, so the fact he'll be our lead back next year makes me extremely excited to watch what he can produce. Offense gained Marshall and I guess that's the only big move McAdoo and Reese thought they needed to succeed on that side of the ball. After last season I've learned it's best just to trust them. As for the defense we should only improve this year. We'll probably lose Leonard Hankins now since we have no more money to spend on free agents, which sucks because he's the guy that does all the dirty work inside, but the Giants will manage without him, I mean we'll still have 3 of the best players in the league at their respective positions on the line, so like I said we'll manage. The rest of the defense is pretty young, so all those guys should only be improving. Giants lock up JPP and now he'll spend his entire career with the Gmen probably, let's see if he can cement his legacy like Justin Tuck, and get his second Lombardi trophy. The Giants all in on winning now, and I'm loving every second of it.
