By DjackWhat a disappointing way to kick off Monday night football, two games that should've been way more competitive than they were, turned out to be two duds. First game of the night was Steelers-Redskins, this game was slightly competitive in the first half but the Pittsburgh Steelers just went into FedEx Field and punched the Redskins in the mouth. The defense played better than I predicted they allowed 16 points I said they'd allow 17. Just as unit though they out played my expectations, that linebacking core is special, and the defensive backs held their own against a pretty good Redskin wide receiving core, and the big guys up front shutdown the run game. The Redskins running game was non existent, and the passing game may have racked up a lot of yards, but didn't lead to any points. I have to give Steelers defense an A performance after that game. The Steelers offense was just unstoppable, AB did his thing caught two touchdowns, and had 126 receiving yards, also another stat line that I basically predicted and hit right on the head(I said 150 yds 2 TD's). The guy who shined the brightest though was D'Angelo Williams, oh my this guy is an absolute monster. He ran for a buck 42 and had 2 TD's, he had one rush that he just split two Redskins down the middle like a knife through hot butter, it was absurd, some Madden type shit. The Steelers offense was firing on all cylinders last night en route to a 38-16 domination of the Redskins. The Redskins proved once again that they were just a mediocre team that took advantage of being in a shit division last year, yet again the NFC East won't have a repeating champion for the twelfth straight year, as the Redskins showed they were just a one year wonder.
Game two of the Monday night football double header was Rams-49ers. I shouldn't even be blogging about this game because it was such a travesty to football. The fact that this game was on national TV is just an embarrassment for Rams players, coaches, and fans. This is the first football game I've ever fell asleep watching that's how bored I was. Rams got blown out 28-0, the 49ers showed up to play, they defended their homefield with pride, and proved that they weren't the worst team in the league whatsoever. Now a lot of people are hyping up their defense because they shut down the Rams completely, Gurley had under 50 yards rushing, and Case Keenum threw for 130 yards, two interceptions, and averaged 3.7 yards per attempt. Those are some of the worst offensive numbers I have ever seen. So, before we get ahead of ourselves and say this offense is the real deal lets see them shutdown an actual NFL caliber offense, not whatever bullshit thrown together roster the Rams had out their last night. I wanna tip my cap to Chip Kelly because this guy is an unreal coach. He somehow made this offense look great with Blaine Gabbert leading the team at quarterback against supposedly one of the best front 7's in football. They ran for 150 yards as a team, Gabbert was responsible for 43 of those yards as he proved what an athletic quarterback he is. He did much better in the passing game than his counterpart Case Keenum, but neither were driving the ball down the field whatsoever. The longest reception of the game was 35 yards so neither of these QB's really had any kind of deep ball in their arsenal. The niner defense played extremely smart and did what every defense should've done this weekend playing an inexperienced quarterback, BLITZ. Keenum could barely breathe at all anytime he dropped back because the niner defense was just letting players fly throw the gaps in the offensive line to hunt down Keenum. That's why Keenum played so god damn awful because the 49er defense forced the issue and tried to make him beat them, when they knew damn well that he couldn't. The game ball should just be split between the 49er coaching staff because they did one hell of a job last night. As for Jeff Fisher I'll be surprised if that joke of a coach can even make it through the rest of this season.
