3/9/2017 Jay Cutler Released by the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets Immediately Show InterestRead NowBy DjackWhat a surprise, Jay Cutler was released by the Bears just hours before the actual beginning of free agency, no one saw this coming. If you haven't caught on already I'm being totally facetious. Everyone knew this was going to happen, the Bears made him available via trade originally, but what GM in their right mind would think trading for Cutler was a good idea. Everyone knew the Bears would wind up releasing him eventually, so why give something up for him when you can get him for nothing. Well not nothing, just some cold hard cash. Cutler now enters the razor thin QB market in free agency and I'm sure he won't be on the market long, despite him being a very average player.
It has been reported the Jets are interested in acquiring Cutler, if this happens I'll break out into tears from hysterically laughing. Cutler to the Jets is just such a Jets move that you just know it's going to happen. This would be the nail in coffin for GM Mike Maccagnan. If he were to bring in Jay Cutler right when the Jets seemed to be going through the early stages of the rebuilding process it would destroy everything. If you're bringing in Jay Cutler you're clearly trying to win now, which would go against every decision he's made since the end of the season. In addition, it'll put a halt to the Jets franchise QB hunt, which I know no Jet fan wants to see, and the team will still be trash while not improving whatsoever. Jay Cutler to New York is the last thing the Jets need, and I'm sure it's the last thing the Jet fans want. Maccagnan needs to do himself a favor and stay very very far away from Jay Cutler's agent.
