By DjackWhat a crazy Saturday of college football, an abundance of high profile games were played, and a lot of upsets occurred. The top 25 will be shaken up for sure next week, several teams proved the were fakes as well as several teams proving that they are the real deal. Let's cut the chit chat ande get to the games...
18 LSU vs Auburn This game began with 4 straight three and outs, this would set the tone for the rest of the game. I don't know whether it was lack of execution from the offense on both sides or the defenses were just playing that good. Leonard Fournette had a mediocre day to his standards, he only ran the ball 16 times for 101 yards. He didn't get quite the same workload that he did to begin the season, which in his case in a good thing because he just needs to make it draft day healthy, no need to be taking an extra 15 hits a game. Sean White, the quarterback of Auburn did a very good job, he completed 73% of his passes for 234 yards, but he couldn't quite manage to get his team into the endzone. The Auburn offense was consistent all game, they just couldn't finish their drives. Their kicker went 6/6 with a 51 yarder, his next longest was 31 yards though so I can't give him too much credit. LSU's lack of a passing game is really going to derail their season, matter of fact it already has, they have more talent on their roster than 99% of schools in the nation yet most years they fail to win ten games like they will do this year, LSU it's time to move on from Les Miles. LSU scored the only touchdown of the game very early, but they also lacked the ability to finish drives so they had to settle for field goals as well. On the final drive of the game LSU began on their own 25 with just under 3 minutes to play. They had one of their best drives of the games on this series, they went 13 plays for 60 yards. The thing is they were down by 5 points so they couldn't kick a field goal to win or tie the game, but like most of the game they just weren't able to score a touchdown, and they come up just short of winning with the ball inside the Auburn ten yard line when the clock struck zero. Auburn wins in a big upset 18-13 over LSU. 19 Florida vs 14 Tennessee Florida got their first test of the season today and they failed miserably. Some might say this is also the Vols first challenge of the season, although the teams that played them did so very competitively. So going into this game I think the Vols had the close game edge over the Gators. The Gators looked unbelievable in the first half, Austin Appleby was cruising in his first start as the Gators quarterback. I do like this kid a lot, he's a gunslinger type who isn't afraid to throw the ball a bunch of times. The coaches seemed to trust him since they let him throw the ball 39 times in his first start. Florida had absolutely no running game from start to finish, and their defense looked savage in the first 32 minutes of this game forcing three turnovers. The Gators were up 21-3 at half and the Vols looked like they were about to lose once again at home to Florida which has become a very common thing. The Vols turned it around after halftime, well Joshua threw a pick early in the second half, but after that he was easily the MVP of this game. He brought his team back with the entire offense on his shoulders, he was responsible for 400 yards of offense and 5 touchdowns. Talk about having an all time game, the Tennessee Vols would go on to complete a wicked comeback and won 38-28 in a tale of two halves. Tennessee after weeks of being called overrated are now proving that they are a serious team. 12 Georgia vs 23 Ole Miss The better team won today, Ole Miss plays a tough ass schedule, and they never end up getting the respect they deserve because their record isn't 10-11 wins. This is a team that can beat anyone in the country, but they also just can't maintain it throughout the course of an entire season because they play so many talented teams. Ole Miss absolutely man handled the Georgia Bulldogs today, Alabama left a sour taste in Ole Miss's mouth last week and they took it all out on Georgia today. Chad Kelly was awesome as usual putting up ridiculous numbers, meanwhile the defense is straight up just stopping the Bulldogs with ease. Georgia had 9 drives where they failed to go over 30 yards, not going to win many games doing that, matter a fact, not going to come close in many games playing like that. Ole Miss punches Georgia square in the jaw and wins 45-14. P.S. Ole Miss was up 45-0 and then put in their backups so Georgia couldn't do anything until Ole Miss took their foot of the gas pedal. 8 Michigan State vs 11 Wisconsin This was supposed to be the best matchup of the week which I don't think it ended up being at all. Wisconsin is a very good football team, we saw that when they beat LSU, but the talent they have at the quarterback position isn't anything near special. Alex Hornibrook made his first start for the Badgers today, most Michigan St fans probably thought they were going to tee off on him today, well they were dead wrong. Hornibrook didn't do many special things, very boring approach, but he managed the game well by having good ball security. The Wisconsin defense is just very scary, like I mean one of the best in the nation scary. They forced four turnovers and completely shut down Michigan St offense by not allowing a single touchdown. That's what I call a shutdown defense. TJ Watt, JJ Watt's little brother, had 2.5 sacks as he proves that it just runs in the family. Michigan st defensively I can't really blame them, the offense would throw them into a horrible situation drive after drive, and they only allowed one scoring drive that was over 30 yards. Wisconsin proves they are real with this defense, they win 30-6 as Michigan St heads back to the drawing board.
