If you told me the Panthers were going to start the season 1-3 I would've called you an idiot, I'm sure most people would've. That's the very real reality the Panthers are now facing though, and to make matters even worse, Cam Newton might miss their next game due to the concussion he sustained against the Falcons. If that's the case, the Panthers might be on their way to 1-4 since a very hungry Tampa Bay Bucs team is coming to town. The Panthers aren't winning with Cam so why should I believe they'll without him, Derek Anderson was in his prime about 8 years ago, and even back than that wasn't a pretty sight. If the Buccaneers beat the Panthers next week the Panthers should be very very concerned about their chances of making the playoffs. Are the Panthers proving that they were a one year wonder last year, or are they just in a rough patch at a very inopportune time. The Panthers play in a very weak division so they'll have the luxury of being able to make up ground quite easily, and for all you people getting way too high on the Falcons, don't because they did the same thing last year, and the year before that, so the Panthers won't realistically have to worry about the Falcons in the long run. If Cam can come back and they still lose, your season is over Panthers fans because that's actually a sign that you're just a bad team. When Cam originally took the hit against the Falcons my initial reaction was yikes that looks awful, then he reached the ball out immediately after stretching for the goaline, that made my thought process shift to well if he's aware enough to do that, the hit obviously wasn't as bad as it looked. That's why I'm not a doctor though because Cam is very much concussed, the worst part of it being the Panthers have to be extra delicate about this situation because of how they handled it last time when they played the Broncos. On that occasion, Cam was drilled in the head multiple times and was never evaluated till after the game. Panthers are going to to do everything in their power to get him back, but with the new NFL concussion protocol there's not much they can do because he has to pass tests by unbiased doctors. It's not like the good ole days where they could just play with concussions, although a lot of those players now have severe brain damage, so yeah good thing the NFL is responsible because lord knows these owners and coaches just want to sell tickets and win football games. If Cam can come back this week there's no need to panic Panthers fans, but if he doesn't these Charlotte Riots are only going to get worse.
