By DjackIt's finally official, JPP is coming back to the Giants for four more years. Earlier today it was reported by Ian Rapoport that the Giants and JPP had reached an extension, although it was the first that JPP had heard of it. He proceeded to tweet out that he had signed no contract and it was just the NY media trying to get ahead of the story. Well, here we are just a few hours later and the deal has become official, even JPP confirmed this time that it was not fake news. The deal is 4 years $54 million guranteed and he'll get paid $17 million annually. JPP will now make as much as Olivier Vernon, the Giants other superstar pass rusher, and rightfully so. Giants win championships based off of how well they are able to get to the quarterback, bringing back JPP was essential in order to keep this formula working. A healthy JPP can do incredible things, him and Vernon together with both at full strength should be an exciting duo, however if JPP doesn't live up to this contract Jerry Reese is fucked. Giants are clearly going all in on the defensive side of the ball, that was made obvious with the JPP extension. Offensive line, running back, and Tight end were all positions that needed to be addressed this offseason, and they were, just not to the extent some fans were hoping for. Tight end we got Rhett Ellison, who will be great for blocking, but pretty useless in the passing game. Offensive line we acquired D.J. Fluker and resigned Jon Jerry, so don't expect to see much improvement from the offensive line. I'm sure adding Ellison will and Marshall will help the blocking in the running game, however Eli still doesn't have the best group of guys protecting him, which isn't promising with a QB of Manning's age. Running back we didn't upgrade at all and I'm totally fine with that, I believe in Paul Perkins more than anyone, so the fact he'll be our lead back next year makes me extremely excited to watch what he can produce. Offense gained Marshall and I guess that's the only big move McAdoo and Reese thought they needed to succeed on that side of the ball. After last season I've learned it's best just to trust them. As for the defense we should only improve this year. We'll probably lose Leonard Hankins now since we have no more money to spend on free agents, which sucks because he's the guy that does all the dirty work inside, but the Giants will manage without him, I mean we'll still have 3 of the best players in the league at their respective positions on the line, so like I said we'll manage. The rest of the defense is pretty young, so all those guys should only be improving. Giants lock up JPP and now he'll spend his entire career with the Gmen probably, let's see if he can cement his legacy like Justin Tuck, and get his second Lombardi trophy. The Giants all in on winning now, and I'm loving every second of it.

By DjackNew York Daily News: "Darrelle Revis is free to play football again. A Pittsburgh judge has dismissed all charges against the former Jets cornerback who was accused of knocking two men out cold after a street confrontation in February, according to an NFL Network reporter. Rashawn Bolton, Revis' high school teammate, testified that he delivered the knockout punches. "If you was my friend and you said you was getting jumped, I'd help you," Bolton told a prosecutor. Bolton said he pulled the accusers off Revis, and punched them after they charged. Bolton said it was his voice that was the one heard on a video, bragging "I knocked both of these motherf------ out." He left court without further comment. Revis, wearing a red-patterned suit and blue tie under a gray wool coat, arrived at court just before 1 p.m. for a preliminary hearing. Revis, 31, was charged with aggravated assault, robbery and other crimes after a confrontation in his hometown with two men, aged 22 and 21, in February." Today, Darrelle Revis showed the sports world that he knows how to make it in this business at every aspect. Don't be surprised when the Revis hand guide to a successful NFL career gets handed out to every player coming into the league. No more rookie symposium, just read the Revis guide to NFL success. We've seen Revis get the money, power, and fame, he's dominated the sport from a business standpoint, athletic standpoint, and now he showed off his street smarts to prove he's the total package.
Revis had a fall guy, everyone should have a fall guy, however for some reason these NFL players never do. One of Revis' friends from highschool and member of his entourage took total blame today, for what happened in Pittsburgh, as Revis walked away unscathed. Total boss move by Revis, this man is literally untouchable, and he just proved it. It looked like Revis what going to get merked by this trial, his career was about to be ruled dead, and then he shows exactly why he's one of the best in the biz. Revis you son of a bitch, you did it again. Savage. By DjackThe Redskins showed exactly why they're the biggest piece of garbage organization in the NFL once again. As if being called the Redskins, a racially derogatory term towards Native Americans, wasn't bad enough, now they have to treat the members of their front office like garbage too. For some time now the Redskins have been making decisions without GM Sean McCloughan being apart of the process. A few weeks ago the story broke that he'd been dismissed until further notice, and that was the beginning of the end. In a matter of weeks the Redskins destroyed this mans entire image belittling him to nothing but another schmuck. If this is the way the Redskins treat valuable members of their organization it's no wonder why the rarely have success.
Dan Snyder is the James Dolan of the NFL, completely incompetent, everyone hates him, and they he continues to fuck up everything he touches. James Dolan was just recently in headlines for the way handled the entire Charles Oakley situation, and it's eerily similar to the Redskins situation. Apparently, Oakley had a drinking problem just like McCloughan, although the Knicks failed to prove it, so it got swept under the rug. The biggest difference being Oakley if just an alumni of the Knicks trying to come to a game, meanwhile McCloughan is active GM coming to work drunk. In both cases it was handled wrong, handled without class, and as a result both owners look spineless. Redskins should've fired Sean McCloughan, showing up to work all the time drunk is inexcusable, however they should've went about it much differently. Fire him, but don't put his personal demons on blast for the world to know, that's just not right. The Redskins prove they're spineless and it's no wonder why this organization is always mediocre or bad, the people they have running the organization are idiots. I mean if a kid like me knows that's not how you treat people, a person of Dan Snyder's status should definitley know that, realistically it's just common sense. The Redskins continue to look like amateurs, the dysfunction within their organization continues, and as a Giants fan I'm loving every second of it, so keep it coming for all I care. 3/9/2017 Jay Cutler Released by the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets Immediately Show InterestRead NowBy DjackWhat a surprise, Jay Cutler was released by the Bears just hours before the actual beginning of free agency, no one saw this coming. If you haven't caught on already I'm being totally facetious. Everyone knew this was going to happen, the Bears made him available via trade originally, but what GM in their right mind would think trading for Cutler was a good idea. Everyone knew the Bears would wind up releasing him eventually, so why give something up for him when you can get him for nothing. Well not nothing, just some cold hard cash. Cutler now enters the razor thin QB market in free agency and I'm sure he won't be on the market long, despite him being a very average player.
It has been reported the Jets are interested in acquiring Cutler, if this happens I'll break out into tears from hysterically laughing. Cutler to the Jets is just such a Jets move that you just know it's going to happen. This would be the nail in coffin for GM Mike Maccagnan. If he were to bring in Jay Cutler right when the Jets seemed to be going through the early stages of the rebuilding process it would destroy everything. If you're bringing in Jay Cutler you're clearly trying to win now, which would go against every decision he's made since the end of the season. In addition, it'll put a halt to the Jets franchise QB hunt, which I know no Jet fan wants to see, and the team will still be trash while not improving whatsoever. Jay Cutler to New York is the last thing the Jets need, and I'm sure it's the last thing the Jet fans want. Maccagnan needs to do himself a favor and stay very very far away from Jay Cutler's agent. By DjackThe unthinkable, the unfathomable, the impossible has happened, the Houston Texans were able to trade away Brock Osweiler and his awful contract. The Texans made one of the worst free agent acquisitions last year when they prematurely signed Osweiler to a massive deal. Somehow, someway the Texans GM was able to wheel and deal, and get Brock Osweiler and his disgusting contract out of Texas. He was able to do all of this by only giving up a 2nd round draft pick in 2018. Genius, pure genius, guys like this are the real heroes of the NFL. Now, you're probably thinking to yourself why would any team trade for Brock Osweiler, and that's a very good point. Out of the 32 teams in the NFL only 1 is dumb enough to make this trade, the Cleveland Browns. Even in the offseason the Browns keep takings L's.
When you do the math and realize the Browns essentially paid $16 million for a 2018 2nd round draft pick, that seems like a little much. However, a 2nd round pick can turn out to be a very good player, may take some time, but that pick could be the player that helps change the narrative surrounding the Browns franchise. Knowing the Browns the pick will go to waste like every other draft pick they've ever had, however I'm trying to be somewhat optimistic about their future, they have to turn it around eventually right. Browns also have over $100 million in cap space, they aren't going to be able to spend all that money because no free agents wants to come to play for the Browns. So, they gave a nice chunk of this year's cap space to Osweiler since it's guaranteed and then they can cut him, and never pay him a dime again after this season. Initially, this trade looked a lot worse than it really was, when you look at it from the Browns got nothing to lose stand point it seemed like a pretty solid deal. Browns paid a lot for a 2nd round pick, but they had the cap space to waste might as well get a draft pick out of it. Win for both sides of this deal. Browns have also gotten offers for Brock Osweiler according to Adam Schefter's sources. Those "sources" are probably people from inside the Browns organization trying to raise the value of Osweiler, so the Browns could get some actual offers for him. If another team trades for Brock Osweiler and the Browns can somehow get another pick for him, or any value whatsoever for him the Browns GM is going to look like a genius. That likely won't happen, so I likely won't be calling a Cleveland Browns GM a genius any time soon. By DjackJerry "the Jet stealer" Reese back at it again with the smooth moves, last year it was Snacks Harrison, and this year it's Brandon Marshall. This morning, Adam Schefter reported the Giants will be signing Brandon Marshall, to a 2yr/$12million deal. This signing came deep out of left field, no one saw this coming for sure, however it may have just brought this Giants offense to a whole new level. There's still some major flaws the Giants need to address on the offensive side of the ball like fixing the offensive line to give Eli more time. With Marshall being acquired the Giants need for a big receiving tight end goes away, all they need at that position is someone to block effectively since Marshall now gives them a bigger redzone threat. I definitley didn't have Brandon Marshall, or any receiver in general for that matter on my free agency wish list, I thought we had bigger needs to address, but this move actually made a ton of sense to cover up other flaws just by getting one player.
With the departure of Cruz the Giants needed another receiver for sure, what they really needed in the grand scheme of things was a redzone threat, and Brandon Marshall is exactly that. Marshall is 6'4" and anything thrown in his vicinity will be caught, so a lot of those times we had to settle for 3 at the goaline last year could've been avoided with a player like this. As much as I love Eli's relationship in the passing game with a solid tight end like Jeremy Shockey, it's not necessary in order for our offense to succeed. Good tight end's are nice to have in the redzone, that's what the Giants thought they had in Larry Donnell when he had his 3 touchdown game a few years back, a 6'5" huge redzone presence for Eli. Unfortunately, Donnell turned out to be the most useless receiving tight end in the history of football. With Marshall being added to the team it takes away the Giants need for the tight end to be a red zone threat. Now, we can have good ole Will Tye or Jerell Adams, whichever one the Giants think block's better, be our tight end and that'll be their main objective, just block and catch check downs. That's all nice and dandy, in reality the Giants still haven't addressed the biggest flaw of all, Eli Manning's blindside. If we can't get a premiere or just an above average left tackle the Giants season won't go as far as we hope. Without time to throw Eli isn't going to be very effective. Eli is also going to be 37, so keeping him upright is in the best interest of the franchise. If the Giants can secure a solid offensive line the Giants are poised for a Super Bowl run. Brandon Marshall can be a huge difference maker on this offense, the added element he brings is some next level shit, although the only way we can truly benefit from this move is if we address the offensive line issue. Fix the offensive line thus giving Eli time to throw, in addition to letting our stud wide receiving core get the most out of their potential. If you're a Giants fan it's hard to not be optimistic after making an early splash like this, though. By Djack1) Deshaun Watson Clemson: Whichever team decides to draft any other quarterback before Deshaun Watson, expect that team to be ridiculed for passing up on Watson when down the road he's beating that team. What more did this kid have to prove to be ruled the best QB coming out of college. He went to back to back national championships, won one of them, torched Alabama's great defense twice on the biggest stage, and he was a Heisman finalist the last two years. That's about the most you can do in two years as a starter in college and he still isn't getting respected. Dabo Sweeney said it best, passing on this kid will be like passing on Michael Jordan. Now, I don't think Watson will be the greatest football player ever, however any team that passes on him will certainly regret it. 2) DeShone Kizer Notre Dame: The best quarterback in terms on size and skill set is definitley DeShone Kizer. Kizer has the size at 6'4" and he has the big arm to make every throw on the field. He's a pretty mobile quarterback with good feet, the only concern with this kid is his intangibles. When you want to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL you need to do the little things well, although a lot of that comes with coaching as well. If Kizer can pick up on the little things quickly and fix them, I really believe he can be a very solid quarterback in the NFL. 3) Mitchell Trubisky North Carolina: He's the favorite to be the first quarterback off the board and might even be the first overall pick to the Browns. If he goes to the Browns RIP to his career. If he goes anywhere else he might have a shot to stay relevant for a little while, even though I think his road to be labeled a bust is inevitable. He was the purest college first round disaster QB there is, he took every snap from shotgun, a lot of his playbook was filled with run pass options, and he only started one year of college football against an extremely weak schedule. I'm not buying into this guy even though every analyst seems to be sold on him. 4) Joshua Dobbs Tennessee: Dobbs has drastically improved in his 3 years as a starter for Tennessee. Each and every year he was trusted to make plays with his arm more and more often, and each year he delivered when called upon. Dobbs did run a lot of run pass option stuff like Trubisky, however he is bigger, quicker, and won't cost you a draft pick in the first two rounds. I see Dobbs as a Dak Prescott type, he might not get his shot as quickly, but I think if he's in the right situation he'll be able to be a good quarterback for a competitive team at a very cheap price. 5. Brad Kaaya Miami:
If anyone is an NFL scout's dream it's this guy. 6'4", played in a pro style offense, and he has 3 years of starting under his belt, so why aren't teams foaming at the mouth for this kid? Well, the reason being Kaaya seems a lot like Brock Osweiler, big guy without a big arm, and he lacks accuracy. Somebody will take a shot on this kid, ultimately they'll regret it, and he'll be nothing more than a lifetime backup, but whatever let that poor team hope. I'm sure people will give him a shot based purely on his physique and experience, only thing is you can't teach talent. By Djack1) Leonard Fournette LSU: The clear #1 running back coming out of the draft this year, Fournette is the perfect combination of power and speed. The pass two years we watched him on Saturdays torch SEC defenses week after week, he's the most NFL ready back by a long shot. I see him being the closest thing we've seen at running back to Adrian Peterson coming out of the draft in the last 10 years. Fournette may not be quite as dominant as AP was, but I certainly see this kid having a HOF caliber career when it's all said and done. 2) Christian McCaffrey Stanford: Here's where I'll probably get some push back, yes Christian McCaffrey is clearly the second best running back in this draft despite no one showing him the respect he's earned. Whenever someone breaks a record that the great Barry Sanders set, it's time to pay attention because that person has some serious skills if he's capable of that. Well, it just so happens McCaffrey does have serious skills and is the most complete running back in the draft. He won't be the best pure rusher, however what he can do catching passes out of the backfield could be a major x-factor in an offense. He'll most likely go late in the first round to an already competitive team, if that team has trouble at the running back position McCaffrey will be sure to fix that problem immediately. Surreal talent, under appreciated, and he's going to prove everyone wrong once he gets to show what he's got at the NFL level. 3) Dalvin Cook FSU: Very capable back, does everything well he's the complete package for sure. He's fast, strong, and he catches the ball out of the backfield pretty well, so he'll be able to carry the majority of the load for a team in the NFL. Cook has an uncanny ability to make defenders miss and he breaks through arm tackles with ease. He's as strong as an ox and he runs with a low center of gravity combining for powerful, yet very balanced running. Besides for Fournette, Cook is the best pure rusher in this class. 4) Samaje Perine Oklahoma: The most underrated back in this draft is Samaje Perine. For the last 3 seasons he has led the Oklahoma rushing attack. He's been consistent, durable, and very reliable, all traits GM's love to hear when it comes to running backs. If your team is looking for a power back to match with their speed back this is the perfect guy for the job. Whatever team lands Perine in the draft is going to be very pleased with the product they're getting. 5) D'Onta Foreman Texas:
Picture a poor man's Jamaal Charles, and that's what you get with D'Onta Foreman. He has great feet, moves like a nimble cat that glides through the smallest of holes with ease. He isn't the fastest guy, although he does have nice breakaway speed, but he isn't uncatchable from behind. He's a solid running back does a lot of the little things well and has all the intangibles to be a solid back in the NFL. He's not going to change your franchise, but he could certainly be a cog in the machine. By DjackRevis gone, Mangold gone, Marshall gone, and more to be gone soon enough, I called this weeks ago in another blog(Read Here), and it was quite obvious they had to do it, and now the Jets may be really competitive in a few years. Today, it was announced that the Jets are willing to trade any of their draft picks and any of their players besides Leonard Williams. They're doing this to bring in a bigger load of draft picks for next year or even this year, more picks means more players, and the Jets need a boatload of players. Mike Maccagnan is doing nicely thus far in his first time at a complete rebuild, cutting old players with big contracts was step 1, acquiring more draft picks is step 2.
How else can they do that even if they don't move their 1st round pick, well there's a way the Jets can cleanse the locker room and acquire more picks all at the same time. Trading key players like Sheldon Richardson, Mo Wilkerson, and Calvin Pryor seems almost necessary at this point, however you can't get back 60 cents on the dollar. Jets need good returns for these guys, they come with baggage but a player like Sheldon Richardson can change an entire defense. Either, you trade these guys for a bunch of picks, or you commit to them, but for the love of God no more bullshit. You can't have Sheldon Richardson be in the headlines for anything other than football, Mo Wilkerson needs to step up and be a leader on that defense, and Calvin Pryor needs to live up to his contract. These are the type of players that can be the foundation of a great championship level defense, if Todd Bowles can't get them to act right and respect him while getting the most out of their ability he's the problem. Fire the head coach if that's the case because locker room drama, off the field bullshit being brought to the field, and players not practicing is all on the coach to take care of. Jets could have the best defensive line in football if they can get these guys working hard, Bowles can't seem to do that though. Jets have a ton of issues none bigger than who their quarterback of the future will be. Let Hackenberg and Petty battle it out for the job this year. If by the end of your 2-14 season you aren't happy with either you'll get Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen placed into your lap and your franchise will be changed forever. 3/4/2017 Wide Receiver John Ross Runs Fastest 40 Time in Combine History/ Curtis Samuel Proving to Be the Most Physically Gifted Athlete in NFL DraftRead NowBy DjackChris Johnson's longstanding NFL combine 40 time record stood for 10 years, and finally it has been broken. John Ross, the fastest man you never heard of, took down the record pulling off what was thought to be impossible. Johnson ran a 4.24 and Ross ran a 4.22, doesn't seem like much, but hey he's got the record now. I'm pretty sure Adidas owes him an island, which is funny since he broke the record in Nike's... Turns out he had to be wearing Adidas cleats to win the island, which is total bullshit, Adidas give this man his island. Players can't break the 40 time in trash shoes, so how can you expect them to do it in Adidas. To add insult to injury, immediately after he broke the record he pulled up with a leg injury. Now, it was probably just a pulled, muscle, nothing too serious, obviously something the scouts and GM's will keep an eye on though. It's pretty absurd that this guy was running so fast that he actually ran himself into an injury, should that be a concern for every team now looking at him, I don't think so, day one just teach him how to stretch properly and he'll be just fine. What John Ross did today was huge, not only did he break the most important combine record, he probably just secured himself a spot in the first round. Every GM is probably drooling over this kid right now, speed kills, and they know it. The players around the league certainly were drooling all over it too, all over twitter players from all around the league were showing love to John Ross. Before today John Ross was an after-thought in the draft, today he is hottest topic of draft discussions. Simply amazing.
Another player that showed up big time today at the combine was Curtis Samuel. Samuel was more of a star player in college than John Ross ever was, but Samuel doesn't necessarily have a set position. Samuel was a dual threat running back/wide receiver at Ohio State, the scary part is he's amazing at both. Seems like he's going to transfer to more of a slot receiver type in the NFL, whatever he does this kid is going to be a beast for whatever offense he is apart of. Samuel ran a 4.31 40, blazing fast speed, and unlike John Ross, Samuel has big time strength too. He put up 18 reps in the bench press, John Ross didn't even bother to participate, however Samuel finished top 5 among all the receivers that did, so he's certainly top of class all around as a physical specimen. I'm certain Curtis Samuel will be the way better NFL player, that's not to say John Ross won't be good, I just believe Samuel will be that elite. Remember just because you have a great 40 time doesn't mean you're a good receiver, remember Darius Heyward-Bey, he's the prime example of falling in love with 40 times. |
