By DjackI'm not a big college football guy, I simply can't keep up with the teams player changes every year, it's like every season there's a completely new set of starters. I could see how some people like that because every season there's new hope for your team to be good. I'm sure that's why people that live in states with bad NFL teams love college football. I'll watch the big Saturday night game but that's about it, there's a ridiculous number of teams no ones got time to keep up with all of that. So I watched Alabama vs USC and was reminded almost immediately why I don't like college football. Alabama is the preseason number one in the country and USC is the preseason number 20, so I expected a pretty competitive game. Well boy was I wrong, all I did was waste my time watching a 52-6 blow out. USC has been horrible since Pete Carroll left, every year they have this crazy optimism that surrounds the team going into the season, every year they disappoint the fans by underachieving. Alabama is clearly the early favorite to continue this dynasty they have and win another National Championship under Nick Saban. This brings me to my point of why the only thing that matters in college football is the head coach. Look at basically any team ever in college football to win a National Title, with a few exceptions, they all had legendary head coaches. Nick Saban, Urban Meyers, Les Miles, Pete Carroll, all geniuses at their craft and wherever they go, they win. How's Florida been since Urban Meyers left? How about USC? They've been awful since Pete Carroll left, it's crazy to me how important the head coach in college football truly is, in all sports head coach is obviously important, but there's a reason these savants are the highest paid guys at the school. As long as Alabama has Nick Saban, they'll be title contenders, and as long as USC doesn't have an A list coach, they'll continue to disappoint. This is just how college football works, Chip Kelly made 3 star players look like 5 star players, I'm not saying recruiting isn't important, I'm just saying the head coach makes or breaks each team. Alabama will win the National Title again this season, and I'll continue to not care.
