Final Curtain Call for THE Big Fundamental

As the final buzzer rang in a game six defeat, most NBA fans; including myself, did not think it would be the last time they would see the legend Tim Duncan walk off the court as a player. After 19 seasons, it seemed as though the old man could always pull off one more season with his Spurs squad, in hopes of winning the coveted title he had helped them achieve on five separate occasions. Although, early this morning while in the office i looked down at my phone to see the notification "Tim Duncan to retire after 19 seasons". Was i shocked by seeing this? No, for Gods sake the guy played 19 seasons as one of the most dominate power forwards in the entire league. I think the right word to use is thankful. I'm thankful I have been able to watch such a great person and player go to war with his team that he considers for 60-82 games each year and leave it all on the court. Even if i have never been a huge fan of the Spurs, and the game 7 win against Lebron and the Miami Heat from 2014 still keeps me awake at night, you need to respect this man. Not only is Timmy THE BEST POWER FORWARD OF ALL TIME, but the guy has always been a class act. He never made the tabloids for being in some sort of scandal, he was never about chasing the money or being the center of attention of his team, all he wanted to do was play what he was born to do: basketball. God damn could that man ball. An illustrious career has come to a close, and he has quite the resume to put him among the basketball greats. Duncan is finishing his career with these achievements: 97-98' ROY, 5 NBA Championships, 2 Finals MVPs, 2 Season MVPs, 15 All-Star Games, 15 Time All-NBA, and 15 Time All Defensive. Not to mention he holds playoff records and regular season records for both his team and the entire league in a plethora of categories. To say i will miss Tim Duncan is an understatement, he was the boy simple as that (and did not need a farewell tour to make it known). So #21, I salute you. I salute your bad fashion tastes, your grandpa swagger, your perfect bank shot, and your legendary career. - B
