By DjackThe #1 overall pick in this year's draft is out with a fractured foot, leaving Philadelphia in disarray. This is always the worst possible way to start your NBA career, Ben Simmons is already facing big obstacles as he now has to rehab a foot injury. He fractured his foot today in training camp, the worst part of it being that is was the last training camp game before they started suiting up for preseason. Unfortunately, Simmons won't be in preseason, he rolled his ankle badly today, and the 5th metatarsal bone in his foot separated from the tendon causing it to fracture. This is the most common foot injury because it's the weakest bone in the foot due to a lack of blood flow. Hopefully for Simmons sake his will not need surgery, the 76ers haven't released much information so we don't know if the bone is misplaced or not, so as of right now nobody knows if he'll need surgery. Either way this injury usually keeps people out 6-8 weeks so I'd say Ben Simmons is most likely going to miss at least the first 2 or 3 weeks of the season. That's best case scenario. I feel bad for Simmons, he got drafted into this mess of an organization, now he's hurt just like every other top 5 pick they've had, so he probably just got hit with Sixers rookie injury bug. I'm not a very superstitious guy, but I mean if something happens over and over again it's a trend, not just a superstition, look at the Madden curse that shit was no joke for awhile. Every fan secretly was praying their teams star wouldn't make it onto the cover of that game because deep down they knew he was inevitably going to get injured. So my theory is the same thing is happening here in Philadelphia, if you're a top 5 pick on their team, you're going to get hurt at some point throughout your rookie season. Just hope you don't end up like Joel Embiid who is yet to play a game and every 5 months I am reminded that he's eventually going to come back at some point. Sounds a lot like somebody by the name of Greg Oden. Back to Simmons though, if he doesn't need surgery and can get back on the court after only missing two weeks of games, his rookie season really won't be altered that much whatsoever. The sad reality of the situation is that Ben Simmons is definitley going to miss some time, so Sixers I'd advise you to all go to church Sunday or just watch the Eagles instead because that might be the only Philadelphia team winning games over the next few months.
