By MukAndrew Bogut played 58 seconds for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, and earned around $1 million from the Cavs, before breaking his left tibia in a game against the Heat. The Cavs acquired Bogut with the hopes that he would be the piece they needed to bolster their interior defense and offense, and when he went down immediately, they panicked looking for his replacement.
They had hoped Larry Sanders would be the answer, after Sanders announced he would be making a comeback to the NBA after a few seasons away from the game, but after Sanders struggled in the D-League to make an impact, they Cavs chose to move on. According to Coach Tyronn Lue, he reached out to recently retired NBA Legend Kevin Garnett, with the hopes that KG would unretire for the Cavs, but that did not pan out. KG said that the Cavs just had too much going on, and he was right, because at the time of the call, the Cavs were certainly struggling, and it was definitely not a situation that would make KG, who has enjoyed retirement, getting a job with the TNT Basketball Crew, come back to the game. The Cavs have seemed to finally find their stride, getting back into Championship form, and it seems that they will be well on their way to a third straight finals appearance, but man it would have been fun to see KG get one last run at a ring.

By MukThe rosters for the BIG3 Basketball League have now been finalized after this weekend's draft, and honestly, this looks like it's going to be fun. When Ice Cube first told the world of his intentions to start a 3-on-3 basketball league for retired NBA players and athletes, many people speculated whether it would be a joke, or something legitimate, and after looking at the rosters and the positive attention the league has gained thus far, I think this thing is going to be fun.
The first big name player who said they would be suiting up for the league, and who was really the turning point as far as how people would view the league, was AI, and now with guys like Mike Bibby, Chauncey Billups, Kenyon Martin and Jermaine O'Neal leading teams, it looks like this thing might just work out after all. The BIG3 League will start on June 25th, and the 10-week season, which will take place in 10 cities across the U.S., with a Championship in Vegas taking place on August 26th. The league is hoping that it's pay-set up, of having the teams who do the best make the most money, will be all the motivation players and teams need to compete hard each game. The league held work-outs over the weekend, and decided the draft order via a Lottery, with "Trilogy" getting the first pick and selecting Rashad McCants, the 32-year old ShootingGuard who spent a few seasons in the NBA before playing overseas, first overall. Whether this league pans out to be a total joke or a legit competition, this should be fun regardless. Getting to see guys like AI, Chauncey Billups and Mike Bibby play again, in a 3v3 league, with money and bragging rights on the line, will surely prove to be entertaining. There are a few big name players still in the league who went undrafted, so we might see them get their time to shine at some point in the coming months. |
