Today is a wonderful day Yankee fans, David Ortiz aka Big Papi, has played his final game against the New York Yankees, thank God. I hate David Ortiz with a passion, I do respect David Ortiz for his greatness, but he's murdered the Yankees for the past 12 years so I'm happy to see him gone. I still have flashbacks to 2004 when he murdered the Yankees in front of my eyes, how could you do that to a child David Ortiz. Well, tonight was his last night ever playing in Yankee stadium, the last time he'd go to war against the team that was his biggest foe for the past decade. He would go onto strikeout and walk before being pinch hit for, sayonara buddy. Big Papi didn't do anything this series against us, he didn't even manage to get a hit, one of the rare occasions that's ever happened. The Yankees could've easily rolled over and quit on the season after getting swept by the Blue Jays, instead they played just as hard this series as they did for the past 2 months which was refreshing to see. What was also refreshing to see was C.C. Sabathia looking like his old self on that mound tonight as he mowed down one of the best lineups in all of baseball. Mark Teixeira's walk off grand slam yesterday was also a nice touch to one of Tex's last games of his career. The Yankees were officially eliminated from playoff contention tonight, honestly any Yankee fan should be very proud of the way this team has played since the trade deadline. No one would've thought that we could stay competitive in the wildcard race and have a winning season after being HUGE seller's at the deadline. Also, Gary Sanchez was discovered, that was probably the biggest blessing of this season, it's nice to have a god like being on your team so I'm glad we found our's. The pitching staff really started coming around in the second half of the year with Tanaka being absolute stud, C.C. exceeding expectations, Chad Green looking like he could potentially be a nice piece in the rotation before he went down, and Luis Cessa also gave us a lot of quality outings during this stretch run. A lot of great things have come from these last two months. I know we have another series with the Orioles left so I won't go on a yearly recap right now, but I wish this was how the season ended a nice series sweep of the Boston Red Sox. Oh well, I guess knocking the Orioles out of the wildcard spot will be an even sweeter ending to our season.
