The Royals complete their sweep of the Tigers with the help of Eric Hosmer. Hosmer broke up Anibal Sanchez's perfect game bid with a walk to start the 5th, then burst Sanchez's no hit bubble with a two out double off the wall in the 7th. This however, was not enough for Hosmer, as he came up to bat in the top of the 9th and hit a 2 run homer, breaking the 1-1 tie and giving the Royals a 3-1 lead. This sweep was the first the Royals have over the Tigers in Detroit since 2008, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The Royals now pull themselves back to .500 and within 3 games of the second place Tigers, with the Indians still cruising in first place. The Royals held the Tigers to one run in each of the three games, and their bats seemed to come alive when needed. Alex Gordon continues to roll after he hit a homer in the 8th to tie to game at 1. The Royals will look to continue climbing the standings as they head to Minnesota for a 4 game series, against the struggling Twins.
