By DjackWell Yankee fans it was a fun two months, but our playoff aspirations have been shattered by the Boston Red Sox. We went into a 4 game series in Boston 4 games out of the division and 1 game out of the wildcard. That has all changed after being swept in demoralizing fashion, the Yankees are now 8 games out of the division, and are 4 games out of the wildcard. Talk about a turnaround for the worse, it's not even like we played like shit and deserved to lose, we had the lead in most of these games, but the Red Sox just kept coming back, and kept scoring runs. Hanley Ramirez killed us this series, he hit a walkoff Homerun in the first game, and finished the series with 4 total homeruns, looks like we found the next Yankee killer once Ortiz is gone. Betances was ineffective in this series to the point where he cost us the first game blowing a three run save, after that heartbreaking loss I felt like that was the end of the season right there in part to the brutality of the loss, but of course the Red Sox had to reassure our season was over by sweeping us, and making sure we left Boston with nothing but defeat on our minds. Game two of this series was the only game we should've lost, we had the lead late in every other game, but the bullpen just couldn't hold off these lethal Red Sox bats, I can't necessarily blame them we traded off our dominant bullpen, and now we are paying the price of being sellers at the deadline. I'm totally fine with it, I understand that we shouldn't have even been in the position we are after trading away most of our star power at the deadline, these rookies have just given me a new false optimism that has lasted too long. We're about two weeks from the beginning of playoff baseball, the Yankees hope are looking very very slim, but I wanted to thank them for giving me exciting, meaningful baseball for the past month, I couldn't have asked for anymore. Next season I want no mercy on the Red Sox, we need to exact our revenge, and spark this rivalry back up to what it was in the early 2000's.
