Prince Fielder, is set to retire after his second neck surgery has left him no choice but to call it quits. Fielder, Mark Texiera, and Alex Rodriguez all taken by father time in one week and it has left me speechless. Another top notch slugger has been worn down by time and can longer produce, ultimately forcing him into retirement. Just a season removed from good if not great statistical seasons from all these players, they look like mere shells of themselves. It is sad to see in every case but it's the circle of life so its better to accept it, look back on the good, and move on. Although it is looking like the Rangers might make a playoff run and win it all, which would obviously suck for Prince, there couldn't be a more perfect time for him to retire. He is tied with his father, a great former Yankee, Cecil Fielder, with 319 home runs. No doubt Prince was the better overall hitter but to share the same amount of homers with your dad has got to be a cool feeling. When either of these Goliath's came to plate you knew the potential for a big bomb was there and they certainly delivered on many occasions. I'm really going to miss all the fat sluggers that just piss on the ball, play either first base or DH, and they're just accepted as fat guys because it seems those days are coming to close. Nothing like seeing all 300lbs of Prince Fielder throw all his might into a home run swing and watch his body contort in all different ways while the ball travels 400+Ft. Prince Fielder, was your prototypical fun loving fat guy in every sense of the expression. From eating a fans nacho's during the middle of the game to his hilarious walk off home run celebrations lets make good of this bad time with some great Prince Fielder moments.
