By Nicky DGet rid of Chase Headley- one way or another find a way to get rid of this guy. He's still signed for another two seasons but he's not worth it, a random minor leaguer would do just as good for 500k a year. I'm not even sure what was the hype about Headley in the first place, this is his 10th year in the big leagues and if you look at his stats he's only had one good year, back in 2012. He's only getting older now and he's for sure not getting any better. Re-sign Chapman- I'm very happy the Yankees didn't sign him to an extension before he was dealt to the Cubs, this makes signing him in the offseason a possibility. In interviews multiple times Chapman has stated that he enjoyed playing for New York. Depending on how the playoffs turn out for the Cubs, the Yankees will be a top team to re-land Chapman. Only sign young players-This team is in the beginning of its rebuilding stages, meaning they should only go for young talent if they decide to sign some people this offseason. Only exceptions would be signing veterans for a role off the bench. Since this offseason free agent market isn't looking too good I doubt they make any moves. Get a good bench player- if you look at the Yankees roster right now they have absolutely no decent bench player they can tell to come up and pinch-hit in key situations. This offseason one player they can take a risk on is Ryan Howard, yes he's old but I think he'd accept a cheap 1 year contract to play off the bench. Ryan Howard at Yankee stadium, I think he'd hit 15-20 homers off the bench, especially with that short porch in right. |
