By DjackLast night Jacob deGrom struggled with his control, something that has been on and off all season. Since the get go this year he just hasn't looked completely right for a long stretch of time. It seems that there has been lingering issues that continued to bother deGrom all year. He has still managed to post very respectable numbers despite it. Just goes to show how good this guy is, if he could get if his body 100% right, he can be one of the best pitchers in the league. He's scheduled to miss his next start now due to elbow inflammation, just another bump in the long road that has been this season. I said it about Matz and I'm going to say it about deGrom, sit him out the rest of the season give him plenty of time to get himself ready for next year. The Mets aren't making the playoffs with or without him, so him pitching again this year doesn't matter, the only thing that will happen is him further injuring himself. Rest these young arms, they've been overworked they need it, get them healthy so you can make a legitimate run next year at the title. This will also give the Mets a chance to see what the other young pitchers like Lugo, Gsellman, and Montero. They obviously aren't the caliber of pitcher that they already have, but they can use them as trade bait so they can have a respectable lineup going into next year. We all know the Mets aren't going to do any of this though, they're just going to run these young pitchers into the ground and ruin them, but hey that's the Met way right?
