By DjackBy far the most ridiculous, stupid, moronic conversation I've seen taking place the last couple days. A month into his rookie season and Aaron Judge is drawing comparisons to Derek Jeter, no, just stop that right now. I have no idea how this ludicrous comparison even gained traction that so many people are talking about, but it needs to stop now. It's disrespectful to the captain and it's totally unfair pressure being put on Aaron Judge.
The two play totally different positions, have totally different physiques, and have totally different games, so obviously the comparison isn't on the field. It's the off the field how they carry themselves that is being compared, which might be a more far-fetched a comparison. Jeter spent 20 years giving the New York media nothing to get on him about, the mystery of how Jeter never brought distractions to the clubhouse at all in his career is simply incredible, and totally unheard of. Derek Jeter is also one of the few Yankee captains in the history of the franchise, showing just how much of a leader this legend truly is. He'd always talk about his other teammates in interviews and just really always said the right thing. Judge has done that for a week and everyone's comparing him to Jeter now. Let the guy be here 5 years, then we can start talking about that, anyone can avoid the New York media for a month, no one can do it for as long as Jeter. I absolutely love Aaron Judge, the guy is helping my team win ball games while hitting some of the most monstrous home runs I've ever seen. As a true Yankee fan I know better than to compare him to our God, though. If Judge ever reaches the point where he is honored by being named captain then allow all the comparisons to roll in. A captain being compared to a captain that's reasonable. A captain being compared to a rookie however, that's blasphemy. Stop this madness now. Jeter even was asked about this, of course he delivered the perfect answer as he always does, he said just let Aaron Judge be Aaron Judge. He doesn't want that kid to have the pressure of filling the shoes of possibly the greatest Yankee ever, how ridiculous is that to ask. Just let Judge hit dingers, win baseball games, and help the Yankees develop into a dynasty. I'll wait until the end of Judge's career before I ever dare to compare him to the GOAT. |
