By DjackThis isn't just some random thought, John Lynch, new GM of the 49ers, said today that the team could potentially land their next quarterback via trade. Now, there isn't many QB's on the market that would really be worth trading for, especially one's that are believed to be future franchise quarterbacks. One certainly comes to mind though, Jimmy Garappolo.
Jimmy Garappolo has already been deemed the next great thing, despite only starting 3 games in his career. Garappolo certainly looked extremely effective in his only few starts with the Patriots, although to think that Belichick doesn't play a big role in covering up his flaws would be an absurd assumption. The potential and ability certainly seem to be there, though. 49ers have a great offensive minded head coach in Kyle Shanahan, who has proven time and time again that he can elevate the play of whatever quarterback he has put in front of him. This would be a huge move for a 49ers franchise looking to get back their Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, and Steve Young glory days. Only question is... are the Patriots wiling to trade Garappolo? For the right price you can buy anything in life, and the 49ers should be wiling to give up everything for this stud. A chance at acquiring a franchise quarterback for the next 10-15 years makes your job a whole lot easier. Patriots will still have Brady playing quarterback for them in 2017 no matter what, but will that be his final season. Brady said he wants to play for 5 more years, he's certainly in great shape and has healthier dieting habits than anyone in the league, so if anyone can do it's Brady. If the Pats are wiling to depart with Garappolo the 49ers will have to give up their #2 overall pick this year, maybe another first round pick for next year, and then a bunch of little bonus players or picks to sweeten the pot. John Lynch will certainly have to whip up a delight of a deal to get the Patriots to trade their young stud quarterback. Will John Lynch be able to do the impossible and save the 49ers franchise, or will he flop? What do you think?
