By DjackLook away Rangers fans, an already horrible start to the season just got a lot worse. The Rangers best pitcher, Cole Hamels, will be sidelined due to an oblique strain for at least 8 weeks. Not getting him back until right before the all star break could be a fatal blow to an already struggling Rangers team. He was 2-0 with a 3.03 ERA, so he was clearly off to a nice start, not contributing to the Rangers failures whatsoever.
Without him an already shaky starting rotation gets a whole lot shakier for next two months. In a division where the Astros will be competing for 100 wins this season the Rangers can't afford lose anymore ground then they already have in the AL west. Unfortunately, now it looks like Astros will cake walk to the division title. The Rangers still have the wildcard to lean back on, although with how talented the AL has become winning a wildcard spot might be just as hard as winning the division this year. We all know the Rangers are the comeback kids, in 2015 they mounted a crazy second half comeback to win the AL west on the last day of the season. Last year they just ran away with the division completely, the optimal method of approaching the division title race. Who knows, maybe they have more magic up their sleeves and can continue to reign supreme in the AL west. All I know right now is that they're going to have to win games the next two months without their best pitcher available. As long as they don't fall too far behind I won't rule the Rangers dead just yet. 5/3/2017 Manny Machado Is Frustrated to Say the Least with Red Sox Pitchers Continually Throwing at HimRead NowBy DjackThe Orioles-Red Sox rivalry continues on this season after what many thought was the end of this whole situation. After Matt Barnes threw at Manny Machado's head last week I was under impression that this would be the end of the debacle, unless the Orioles decided to retaliate. Well, apparently it wasn't, the first at bat against Chris Sale of Tuesday Machado got a pitch thrown behind him, and boy was he pissed off. After the game he sounded off saying how crazy it was that they continue to throw at him over one incident. He continued on by saying if they were going to hit him just do it already stop beating around the bush. The best line he had was when he said these pitchers throw a baseball 100mph at you, it's not cool, I have a bat that I could crush them with, but I'll get suspended the whole year, meanwhile they only get suspended for two games . Machado is right, why can't he use a weapon since these pitchers are, it's only fair. Next time they throw at Machado he better charge the mound because this is getting ridiculous. We've seen him do it before and that was awesome, so hopefully he does it again.
Classic dirtbag Red Sox and piece of shit Chris Sale not being able to let things go. You threw at the guys head and missed, you lost your chance. Sale should've immediately been ejected, the umpire was too soft even though he knew it was clearly on purpose. Sale doesn't miss behind someones back, especially since he's the most accurate pitcher in baseball. Psychopath Chris Sale went on a rampage cutting up jerseys he didn't want to wear, throwing at someone a week after for unintentional take out at second base is definitley not out of his realm of psychotics. Machado should've ran out to the mound slammed wiry Chris Sale injuring him for at least a couple months. This way he gets his payback and helps out the rest of the AL East. I hope this rivalry keeps going for the rest of the season and now I think it might. I really thought it was going to die out after Barnes threw at Machado, but I guess baseball hasn't got as soft as I thought, which is a nice relief. Machado said he has no respect for anyone in that clubhouse and he shouldn't. Pedroia tried to do that bullshit in game apology last week, obviously that didn't mean shit or you would've told your teammates to just stop with this nonsense already. Now, if I'm an Orioles pitcher I'm throwing at Pedroia. If you can't control your pitchers, if you can't control your clubhouse as a veteran, you deserve to get beamed. An eye for an eye it's only fair. By DjackBy far the most ridiculous, stupid, moronic conversation I've seen taking place the last couple days. A month into his rookie season and Aaron Judge is drawing comparisons to Derek Jeter, no, just stop that right now. I have no idea how this ludicrous comparison even gained traction that so many people are talking about, but it needs to stop now. It's disrespectful to the captain and it's totally unfair pressure being put on Aaron Judge.
The two play totally different positions, have totally different physiques, and have totally different games, so obviously the comparison isn't on the field. It's the off the field how they carry themselves that is being compared, which might be a more far-fetched a comparison. Jeter spent 20 years giving the New York media nothing to get on him about, the mystery of how Jeter never brought distractions to the clubhouse at all in his career is simply incredible, and totally unheard of. Derek Jeter is also one of the few Yankee captains in the history of the franchise, showing just how much of a leader this legend truly is. He'd always talk about his other teammates in interviews and just really always said the right thing. Judge has done that for a week and everyone's comparing him to Jeter now. Let the guy be here 5 years, then we can start talking about that, anyone can avoid the New York media for a month, no one can do it for as long as Jeter. I absolutely love Aaron Judge, the guy is helping my team win ball games while hitting some of the most monstrous home runs I've ever seen. As a true Yankee fan I know better than to compare him to our God, though. If Judge ever reaches the point where he is honored by being named captain then allow all the comparisons to roll in. A captain being compared to a captain that's reasonable. A captain being compared to a rookie however, that's blasphemy. Stop this madness now. Jeter even was asked about this, of course he delivered the perfect answer as he always does, he said just let Aaron Judge be Aaron Judge. He doesn't want that kid to have the pressure of filling the shoes of possibly the greatest Yankee ever, how ridiculous is that to ask. Just let Judge hit dingers, win baseball games, and help the Yankees develop into a dynasty. I'll wait until the end of Judge's career before I ever dare to compare him to the GOAT. By DjackWith no warning whatsoever the Yankees placed Greg Bird on the 10-day DL today. They say it's due to a right ankle bruise, even though he looked fine yesterday when he was playing. Well, fine health wise at least, Greg Bird hasn't looked fine at the plate at all this season. After putting up huge numbers in spring training, Bird has failed to carry over his success over to the big league level. What seemed to just be an early slump turned into awful at bat after awful at bat. It got to the point Greg Bird looked completely lost at the plate, no confidence whatsoever. Yankees had no choice but to place Greg Bird on the DL, although it has nothing to do with an injury.
Greg Bird, was becoming a complete liability in the Yankee lineup. Bird kept coming up in big spots and producing absolutely nothing, when there's a bench full of guys dying for at bats, failing to produce will land you outside the lineup quickly. Bird's awful start was also taking a toll on his confidence. When a young hitter just can't seem to break out of a slump they begin to think the obvious, I suck. If you think you suck as a baseball player, then you're definitley going to suck, so Yankees are trying to avoid that, especially with the brutal NY media lurking. Yankees decided to just throw Bird on the DL to give him a break, help him get his mind right, and now he'll probably get some rehab starts in the minors to help him find his stroke again. Once Bird gets going and starts doing what he's capable of it'll just add another force to an already great Yankees lineup. Hope this desperation move works for the Yankees and Greg Bird, the last blog I want to write is the Bird is a bust blog. By MukOn May 1st, 1991, Rickey Henderson stole his 939th base, breaking Lou Brock's record. Rickey Henderson is the greatest base-stealer of All-Time, and I don't think you'll find anyone who will ever argue that. Henderson stole an astounding 1,406 bases, 468 more bases than Lou Brock stole during his illustrious career (Brock is 2nd All-Time), and also ranks first All-Time in runs scored with 2,295.
Henderson played for an incredible 25 seasons, was a 10x All-Star, the 1990 AL MVP, a two time World Series Champion, 12 time stolen base champ, as well as the All-Time leader in leadoff home runs with 81, and shattered the single-season stolen base record with 130 in the 1982. Rickey Henderson was inducted into the Hall-of-Fame on his first try, in 2009, and is truly regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of baseball. He was a terror on the base paths, a great hitter, as one of only 30 players to record over 3,000 hits, displaying both power and contact, speed and strength, and a great baseball IQ. His longevity and durability earned him the nickname "The Man of Steal", and he is regarded as the greatest lead-off hitter and baserunner ever. Rickey Henderson is often talked about as being somewhat of a mythical creature, with his pure dominance and sense of immortality on the base paths, and is hilariously known for talking about himself in the 3rd-person for much of his career. Baseball is one sport where we often look at the record books and say that record will never be broken, but there are players who come along and do what we thought they couldn't, but I truly think that his stolen base record is one that will never be broken, at least not in my lifetime. Guys like Ichiro Suzuki and Jose Reyes headline the list of active players who are great base stealers, and both not even in spitting distance of Brock's record, let alone Henderson's. A baseball immortal, a mythical figure, however you choose to remember him, there is no arguing that Rickey Henderson is one of the most prolific players to ever step on the diamond, and the images of him holding up those bases after each historic milestone will always be remembered and idolized.
